Baan panburi

I liked this place a lot, we only stayed one night though because we realized that we were on the wrong side of this particular beach, Thong Nai Pan has two beaches, NOI and YAI, Baan Panburi is located on NOI Beach and we had friends that were staying on YAI beach. If you are planning to stay on the NOI side of Thong Nai Pan, I highly recommend this place.

Unique Quality: The grounds are beautiful and the people are nice. Our bungalow was right near the beach and it had its own little garden area and porch. The accomodations are well taken care of, they don't offer more than a lot of the other bungalow operations around, but their standard seems to be a little bit higher. Nicer sinks, and toilets, and beds, etc. If I wind up going to NOI, I will definately stay here again.

Best beach on Koh Phangan?

Very nice place in the small village(Paanburi) in the north-east part of Koh Phangan.
In the village there are some very nice restaurants and bars.

Prices are from 500 to 2000 bahts, but the best alternative is a bungalow on the waterfront with fan, hot water and toilet for the price of 960 bahts.
Own small terrace with chairs.

Unique Quality: Absolutely best sandy beach for swimming and sunbathing. Also for children, cause it is not so deep.

The road there is a must see! It is a dirt road, that is in very bad condition. Four wheel drive or powerful motocross bike is highly recommended!

They have internet service, long-distance calls(mobile phones doesnt work there!), laundry, massage and beach bar(opened when we were there).

Canoes for rent

Thong Nai Pan Noi

This would have to be the most beautiful little beach resort I have ever been to.
It has great little bungalo's along the beach (Baan Panburi) unde rthe coconut tree's.
Thong Nai Pan Noi has superb fresh seafood restaurants with tables on the beach of a night time and a couple of laid back places to party of a night.
The beach is enclosed on three sides by mountains and you either gat a very rough trip there by songtow taxi or you can get a taxi boat to Haad Rin. My favorite memory of this place was relaxing in the small pool near our bungalo looking out at the most perfect beach while sipping on a cold beer.

Hi,

Going to Koh Samui in June/July for our wedding/honeymoon and can't wait. We are having 5 nights over in Koh Phangan and are staying at Baan Panburi. Has anyone stayed there and is it easy to get around to the other beaches other than by motorbike?

Is there any good restraunts nearby that anyone can recommend and any must do activities?

Thanks for your help

Traci.

In April 2004 we stayed in the same bay where Baan Panburi is located, so while I cannot say much about the hotel, I can regarding the road situation. In April 2004 the last 6 or 7 kilometres on the road leading from Thongsala to the Thong Naay Paan Beach were just bumpy sandy lanes and if they have not been improved meanwhile, you will find it difficult to go there with a motorbike. The other main roads on the island are fine now, but there are some steep sections where I have seen tourists pushing their motorbikes occasionally.

Except for the motorbikes that are popular with tourists, there is a Song Theow Service all over the island. They start as soon as they think to have enough passengers, and besides that you can always hire a boat that brings you to any bay you want on the island (but be careful, these boats are normally without roof, so you are exposed to the sun).

Regarding restaurants: There are lots around, most of them very good. For a formal romatic dinner I suggest to go to the restaurant of Panviman Resort on top of the hill in your bay. It is a bit expensive, but the view, in particular at dawn, is simply great (as is the food).

Regarding "must do activities": Not really much there, but this is a general remark for Ko Pha-Ngan (with the exception of the FMP). You can do a daytrip by boat to another island nearby (Ko Tao, etc.), but otherwise do as we did there:

We were at Baan Panburi in july-august 2003 for some 4 nights or so.
The place is very laid-back, so its perfect for total relaxations as mentioned above.
There is very nice bar near the center of the village called "Bio`s dynamic kitchen". It is very nice place to hang around and have some drinks; they made excellent cocktails there!
Dont know about food, but in Baan Panburi resort the food was just great and they had some bbq-nights once in awhile.

Have a nice time there!

Hello,
as you might know you stay at Tong Nai Pan, which is only accessable ba jungle road or by boat. To travel around on KPG from Tong Nai Pan isn´t easy but not unpossible.Regarding the restaurants - In Thong Nai Pan are as good as no Restaurants. What I can recommend is the Game Bar where you´ll find delicious Pan-cakes and Pasta. There is, as much as I know only 1 small Thai-Restaurant in TNP. All the others restaurants belongs to the various hotels.
Hope this was of some help.
