Where to Stay on Koh Phangan for snorkeling & relative quiet

by analogjeff

My wife and I will be on Koh Pha Ngan in late Jan./early Feb. (leaving well before the full moon party), and we're trying to figure out which beach areas in the northwest, away from the port and far from the party zone is best. Looking for places that are good for snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, hanging-out, etc. Anyone with suggestions for beaches and/or mid-range bungalow places with or near good basic Thai food??

Thanks a lot!!!

Ypu may try Ao Thong Nai Pan. There are two beaches here Ai Thong Nai Pan Noi where there are some good resorts; accommodation is cheaper on Yai beach. Ypu may also try this website, full of interisting notices:

Still wondering about places on the west and northwest part of the island... for example, Haad Salad? Haad Yao (west)? Haad Tien (west)? Mae Hadd? Any ideas or opinions?

Thank you!

hello, try Haad Yuan, its private and can only be reached by boat, i spent 10 days on haad yuan, and a total of 25 on koh phangan, i recommend big blue bungalows,,there are only 2 or 3 hotels on the beach its where i will try to convince my wife to honeymoon if i ever marry!

Travel Tips for Ko Phangan

Beach!!!!!!

by nepalgoods

Well, Ko Phangan has also lovely beaches! And I enjoyed them very much after 10 days of silence!

The beaches are white and sandy. There is also Hat Rin Beach, where the famous fullmoon-parties are held.

Not much u cannot get here!

Backpack recommended. You'll have a hard time wheeling suitcase around. Plus, you'll probably feel really out of place! Warm Weather gear: Tees, Berms, Sarongs, Bikinis, Slippers, All terrain sandals (if you wanna visit a waterfall or go trekking).
Raincoat (for the passing showers if you visit during Oct-Nov Essentials: Mosquito repellent, Mosquito coil (but everything is available from the minimarts that are everywhere. There are also many well-stocked little pharmacies on the island) Waterproof cameras (for the snorkelling trips) Bikinis and board shorts, Sunglasses and Hats

Waterfalls

by AndreSTGT

For those who (just like me) prefer a swim in a cool freshwater pool, there are a couple of nice waterfalls on the island.
Check out the Phaeng Falls and the Sadet Falls. They're of course at their best during and shortly after the rainy season.

Go to the Fulll Moon Party

by beaniezotzim about Full Moon Party Haad Rin

Go just to say you've been. it's definately worth it... fun stuff. It makes me feel like I am on drugs even when Im not. how great is that? A virtual feast for the eyes. every kind of music blaring from one bar to the next, just pick your poison and dance the night away. there are people everywhere, and everyone seems to be dancing, even when they aren't. GO. anything goes
