Beach Bungalows in Thailand with Safes?

by LeBeach

Will be in thailand in May: Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan (3 weeks).

Will be looking to stay in bungalows BUT will also have an expensive SLR camera with me. Do the bungalows have safes? If not, will they let you use a safe in the main building? Can you recommend bungalows with safes on (some of) those islands?

Thank you!

Hi I have been in Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.
Al's Resort in Chaweng beach are really nice and cheap and have safes in the room.
For Koh Phangan I stayed in Blue Hill Resort they have they're safes in the reception and advise never to keep your valuables in the rooms when you are not there especially when the full moon is on most places are at risk...

I stopped in Chaweng in Samui at a bungalow site called Matlang. It had lockers in the resturant part of the complex. seemed safe enough, but i would recomend buying a padlock before hand or they will sell you a cheapo one for 100 baht. Cheap and cheerfull place but a long way to walk to Chaweng central. You are not far from the beach and could have a leisurely walk that way, but avoiding falling in the sea after dark like I did on the way back.

Lipa Loveley on the west coast of Samui has individual safes in the office.
They have also started getting them fitted in to the rooms.
It's right on the beach and has nice bungalows not too expensive.

Be careful just asking if a hotel has room safes. Some are for passports and money only, not big enough for an SLR. You need to ask what size it is too.
