Living in a postcard

When we got there, we felt something was different and strange. That's because we heard not one single noise. No wind. No waves. No boat engines. No cars. No tourists. Nothing. Not even the resort staff (they were sleeping).
This place has the huge advantage of being built in paradise.
There is not much to say about the level of services. It's the same as everywhere in Thailand (except, maybe, Phuket and other well-established touristic areas). Thai people are easy-going people and they don't work too much.
But the place was fabulous for those looking for total tranquility, white sand, shallow warm waters.
The prices are negociable. If you think about making a reservation prior to ariving, do not reserve or pay for more than 1 night. That's because you cannot negociate the price and you will pay more. The average price for a room is 800-1000 Baht (about 20-25 USD), but you can negociate and get an incredible deal, especially if you plan to stay longer. I met a couple who negociated to 200 Baht per night (5 USD) for a very nice bungallow. It's also true that they were staying there for 7 weeks.

Unique Quality: They have about 20-30 bungallows, some of them placed directly on the sandy beach. Some of them have AC, some have only fans.
The funny thing is that you must seek for the cleaning lady and ask her to clean your room or at least empty your trash bin. If you don't ask, she will never come.
The staff, as almost everywhere in this area, speaks almost no English. You can feel lucky if you get what you ordered.
The food is not great, as they don't really like to cook, but there are some restaurants around (don't forget to rent a bike).
But, anyway, this is an excellent place to do absolutely nothing and wipe everything out of your head. Just relax, read a book opr have a cold beer while seating in the middle of the shallowest, warmest and cleanest water that can be.

Secluded Beach Views

I wanted a unique beach hut experience, and it's exactly what I got when I stayed at Chaloklum Bay Resort.

OK, so it's not really a resort, but it DOES have bungalows ON the beach, a gorgeous restaurant, and is a short (20 min) walk from the main town of Chaloklum Bay.

The resort has it's own small shop where you can purchase food, hygiene products and touristy items.

Unique Quality: Having your own beach is fantastic, and Chaloklum Bay offers this.

Situated on the north of the island, the resort is secluded, but still accessible to shops and lovely restaurants.

It's a place to go if you want to get away from it all (ie. not be near the full moon party city)
