new year accomodation 2010

by zeldiv

Im trying to look for accomodations for the new year but everything seems to be booked already or have minimum stays. plan to stay for three nights.
Can anyone recommend any places that allows only three nights?
Or would it be advisable to look for places once in kho phangan?
Thanks!

If you having problems booking now for accommodation on Kho Phangan for new years celebrations then I think their is very little chance you will get anything. Hadrin Beach most defiantly will be booked out, all you can do is try accommodation on other beaches around the island but don't expect to turn up on the day and find accommodation.

Just remember Koh Phangan is famous for the Full Moon parties which I'm sure you pretty much know, they attract about 20,000 people each month for the parties but their is not 20,000 rooms on the island.

Another option you can try and that is stay on Koh Samui and then take the ferry over to Koh Phangan for the party which will go on until dawn, by then you will be ready for the first ferry back to Koh Samui.

Travel Tips for Ko Phangan

Go to the Full Moon Party in Koh Phan Ngan! It a helluva party, and not only for that night. Every night is partynight! But the downside is lots of drugs, rape and stealing. Stay around people you know, don't do drugs and don't get too drunk to think clearly. Easy to say...

eating at guesthouse.

by kenteh

generally if you are staying in a guesthouse, esp those lower budget, homey ones... try to eat at least a meal or two from them because it's the only few ways the owners can supplement their income. the time spent there was a nice lazing time because we could eat, the lay down and just chill the lazy afternoon away.

in a sense it's homecooked food and authentically delicious and cheap, rather than westernised thai food found in the more commericalised part of town.

Driving along the coast.

One of the simple pleasure of Koh Phangan is to drive along the picturesque coastline.
The are many quaint villages, coconut plantation and miles of empty beaches.

This is the view of the coastline from my rented jeep.

Full Moon Party! Gdamit,it's fun! This was only the pre-party,things got worse...
Koh Phan Ngan during full moon(!)is a must to be at for the partypeople. But sadly, there's a lot of dope. STAY AWAY FROM DOPE! STOP THE DOPE,NOT THE DANCING!
This picture shows Norwegians,Swedes,Danes,Britons, Kiwis & Saudis having a bit of fun. But just a bit.

Around Koh Phangan

by laramie

I rented a 4 wheel drive. In my opinion, that is the only way to go in Koh Phangan. The island has hilly interior, and for most part still consist of dirt road. Renting moped, like so many people do just doesn't make any sense.

Shared taxis are abundant, and available almost 24 hours during the full moon season but if you plan to move around a lot, the fares will definitely add up, it might cost more than having a private vehicle

Price for 24 h rental start at 1,000 bht, depending on the make and model.
