Samui - Koh Phangan Boat Services...

by TreeTribe

So I will be arriving into koh samui on July 5th at about 7:30pm by the Bangkok Air flight from phuket. can I take a boat/ferry across to Phangan at around 8-8:30pm ? as far as i can tell, the last boat leaves at 6:30pm to KPN. is there a private speedboat i could take at night (8:30ish)? approximately what should be the cost ? I don't want to spend the night in Samui, but if there is no other option, i guess i'll have to.

i'm gonna be there for about a week beginning july 5th, so if anyone else is travelling around the same time and wants to get in touch, feel free! :)

I would assume if you could arrange a speedboat at night (anything is possible I guess) I would recommend staying the night somwhere close to the ferry departure and travelling over the next day. I am a firm believer that wherever you are in the world have your accommodation booked before dark. There will probably be accom. touts at the airport. Pick a place in the Maenam or Bophut area which will be close to the ferry port.

it is free booklet updated each month about phanan.

there is two piers in thong sala, one is international pier, the other is multi-functional pier, you can get it from here or maybe in your bungalow.

some information is useful to choose hostel and night activities.

Chedi Wat Nai

by austarman

Chedi Wat Nai is a beautiful little Pagoda located on the side of a small paved road, just off the main road leading to Thong Nai Pan from Ban Tai Pier. You’ll spot it just before you arrive at the coconut factory. It’s right in the middle of the coconut plantation, whose owners happen to be very warm and friendly farmers.

The island's North-West

The beaches in this area are tranquil, romantic and beautiful to look at. Watching the sunset on Ko Phangan is magic.
The problem with these beaches is that they are extremely shallow, so if you want more than just sun-bathing you should stay elsewhere and just visit on a day trip.

Good chill beach bar. Not on the beach now.

by LakeFever about Chai Ya Bar #2

This is the Chai Bar that was located on the beach the last time we visited. For some reason they had to move and another chill bar was left in its place. When we finally figured out where this bar was, we were relived.....the people who run Chai are the niest ever. WE had a great time with them all. They now have an extended menu and we tried the food one night and it was great. The kitchen stays open well past anything in Tong Nai Pan and Pins wife is the cook. Very good and inexpensive even compared to beach side restaurants. Note: no BBQ.
Note: just tell them your hungry and they will cook you up something fresh and filling. We found this as the best method to order as they would cook things for which they did well and/or for which they had ingredients for. :) N/A

This is the main road!

by Steve-H

This is the main road, it is washed away during the rainy season and that corner has a 200 foot drop off into 3 feet of water, bad odds so take care. We rented some motocrossers and had a hoot but then we are both experienced bikers, for the less experienced...TAKE THE TAXI
