No bikinis off the beach!
by girllrig
Every single guidebook says this yet still in the little Thai village I stay in are idiot tourists walking around in string bikinis. Some of them even go into shops or restaurants like this! This is SO RUDE in Thai culture, and even though the Thais will probably not say anything to you since they are generally non-confrontational people, they will look down on you. DO NOT WEAR YOUR BIKINI ANYWHERE BESIDES THE BEACH. It is not so hard to wrap a sarong around yourself, and the locals will appreciate you for it. Topless or nude sunbathing is a no no as well. Please respect the country you are in.
FLIPPER
by vigi
Flippers is a very popular activity here on the beach. Have you ever imagine yourself playing Flippers "IN THE MIDDLE" of the sea? You can do this in Baan Tai Beach during low tide in the evening. Cool!
Full Moon
by alvis about Haad Rin Beach
These days every night is full moon night, with Haad Rin beach all the night clubs and people buzzing all night long.
The full moon night maybe a bit more special but every night is a party night in Ko Phangan. Night clubs all along Haad Rin playing all sorts of music each club specialising in its own sounds as you walk along the beach.
Hard house, hip hop, R & B, techno, progressive and funky house even drum and base and some old hardcore you will find it all.
The poi shows are a big attraction where people dance about swinging and throwing flames around.
2 of the most memorable offers from the full moon parties were:
"Ecstacy, Cocaine" and "You want me to suck your ****, you want me to make you ***"
Expect anything to happen its a bit of a freak show. Anything goes
Scooters
by paradisedreamer
You can rent scooters and off-road motorbikes all over the island. You will soon notice all the bandages on people's legs from falling off so be careful as the roads have loose stones / gravel which will scrape you up pretty badly.
It is great to ride around the island, wind in your hair and not a care in the world!
BBQ...right on!
by LakeFever about Dreamland Resort evening BBQ
Great food! Dreamland had a decent evening BBQ....simply select the fish, seafood or meat...add corn or baked potato as well....real good. We would order 15 or 20 minutes before sitting down at the restaurant and then go over when ready....add on menu items as well...all in all pretty inexpensive...well more than an order of pad thai but cheap none the less.....ate the BBQ almost every night. The Chicken (if you can believe it) was a fav...the white snapper good to, and of course the prawns....80-100 baht ea.
Enjoy with a Singha or a SPY cooler (Amy choice)
