We had our kids there in Dec, 4 kids under 6 years old. Try www.villakohphangan.com in Thong Nai Pan, perfect for families. Good Luck

Accommadation in Ko Phangan

by clouds84

Hi,
I am heading to Ko Phangan for the full moon party - and am currently trying to book accommadation. I am thinking of staying on Haad Leea beach - does anyone know if this is a nice beach to stay on - and if its close to the full moon party. I am looking at staying at a place called Sarikantang Resort or coco hut resort. Has anyone been to these resorts and are they any nice?
Thanks xox

10 days in thailand

by feew

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to make the most of a short trip to thailand. My boyfriend and I are travelling in June for 10 days and were wanting a couple of days in bangkok and some time on the beach, preferably koh phangan. Any suggestions on how best to do this, eg transport wise? Also, does anyone know anything about the sarikantang resort on haad rin nai (I think)? The website looks very nice... Thanks.

The easiest option would be to fly with Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui, then you can get a short boat/ferry trip across to Koh Pha-ngan. A much slower but cheaper option is to get a train from Bangkok down to Suratthani and then get a ferry across from there.

you can go to Phangan by
1. fly from BKK to Koh Samui by bangkok airways, i think you can reserve tickets via its website. when you arrive the airport, check speed boat or ferry tickets to phangan.

Speed boat's service time is from 8 or 9 a.m., round trip ticket is 700 baht, it takes about 20 mins from samui to phangan. For ferry, it begins at 10.30 p.m. and it take 1 1/2 hr. to phangan, so you will arrive the island about noon. Its round trip ticket is 400 baht. There are minibus circle around the island.

I prefer Thong Nai Pan beach because which is at the north. It's quiet and peaceful. Anyway there are red dust along the road because it's underconstruction. The bungalow/air con should be around 1,200 baht/night. If you go by speed boat, you will arrive at Thong Sala pier, from there to Thong Nai Pan is almost an hour. The bus ticket is 80 baht/person.

Rin Nok is also beautiful beach when there are not so crowded. Mae Had beach is a place for snorkeling, you can walk to Koh Ma (Horse island) too. The more quiet is Bottle beach (Kwuad beach), you can go there only by boat from Chaloklum beach which is a fisherman village.

forget to tell you 2 other ways to Phangan
* take air con train bus (overnight/sleeping bed)from bangkok which is depart around 10 p.m. and you will arrive Surat Thani train station. At the station there will be some guys selling ferry ticket to Phagnan. The ticket will be include bus ride and ferry. It takes about an hour from train station to Don Sak pier, and after that you can go there by ferry.
For this option the price is 1,000s baht, if you add a little more going early bird flight from Bangkok Airways is better (2,100 baht)
* take air con tour bus from Bangkok's southern bus terminal, but its' a kind of dangerouse because it take about 7-8 hrs. and road at south isn't so good.
