The Sanctuary Island Resort

The name says it all

The Sanctuary is an eco-resort hidden in the jungle, east of Haad Rin (where the boats from Samui stop).
It has been built on a hill and there are various accomodation types you can choose. From 6USD/bed/night dormitories to 100USD/night family villas.
The rooms/bungalows are spread in the jungle and, during the night, you hear all kinds of jungle sounds, except tiger roars.
The good thing is that you really feel in a Sanctuary. The place is amazingly well and eco-friendly designed, yet you have everything you need:
- Excellent cooking, with more than 300 different dishes; they have the best food I've tasted in Thailand.
- A Spa with different types of treatments, from cosmetic treatments, massage to different cures and cleansing programs
- Internet cafe
- Yoga, Shamanic Healing, Belly Dancing, Meditation classes
- Library with thousands of books

The bad thing is that there is no electricity between midnignt and 8 AM, because they have their own generator and try to keep the costs down. So, if you are a night bird, try find something else, as the bar gets also closed minutes before midnight. Again, if you're afraid of wildlife, avoid the place, as going back to your room by night requires a few minutes trekking in the jungle while holding a lantern or candle in your hand.

Unique Quality: Isolated from the noisy part of Haad Rin (the home of Full Moon Parties).
Very nice people, though yoga practicants could make you feel stupid, cause they look like they have reached Nirvana and you did not.
Excellent (I mean excellent) food.
