Accommodation for Solo Female Traveler

by mj9462

I will be traveling to Phi Phi islands at the end of April and am searching for a place to stay. Websites have left me flustered and confused. Would love to stay in a bungalow, but my budget is roughly 1000 baht/night. Since I am on my own it would be convenient if it had a restaurant and bar so i won't have to wander around on my own in the dark if it gets too late. I would like to be close to town, but understand I can just catch a taxi there. Close to, if not on, a beach would be great. Any help is apprecaited!

Thanks,
mj

Have a look at the resort we stayed with my wife. We stayed in a bungalow and it was very comfortable. You can find details on my Ko Phi Phi page.

Phi Phi Don is a small island where everything is in walking distance as for getting a taxi they simply do not exist. there is no transport on the island.

If the websites are confusing you then wait until you turn up on the island. When you get of the boat there is a small area at the end of the pier which can help you find a bungalow on the island but you could get a cheaper deal by walking around to the hotels by yourself and see what takes your fancy but watch out for local holidays it can get booked out.

Travel Tips for Ko Phi Phi Don

Koh Phi Phi Don - for backpacker and divers

by akkipaa

The tiny island of Koh Phi Phi has been a backpacker destination for years, not surprising then that it is also a great diving destination. Being centrally located it serves as a great base to explore local dive sites and those further afield at Phuket, Krabi and Lanta. With crystal clear waters, fringing reefs, local islands and a laid back beach atmosphere Koh Phi Phi truly is a paradise.

Getting there : Boat 2 hours
Off Season : Aug / Oct

Snorkling

by JustinJansen

It's an excellent area to do snorkling. Hire a boatsmen and ask him for good snorkling spots, they know.
Also from the island (from where you enter the island) is excellent snorkling.
We saw many fish and some dark-tippe dreef sharks!
Probably diving is excellent too. The sharks and fishes and the very beautitiful coral reef!

CATS EVERYWHERE!

by Nina-Maarit

Cats!! Cats everywhere! Cats of all sizes and colours! I like cats, by the way...

This particular cat (in the picture) draw a lot of attention, lying in front of a shop...

If you want to see a very cute cat family, please check out my More Photos travelogue. :-)

"Beck" speak up about his sadness 2

by hash09

Then we sit again at the stairs where we sat earlier, and we continue to talk, he said, before this, he have a lots of friends, but now, his friends can be count, and that canadian guys are friends of him since a few years back, that what he have, and other 3 of his local friends. I was asking him where he was when the wave came, then he said, he was on the boat on that time, he can't run anywhere, so he just look at it and pray, he depent on his faith for what will come to him soon.. then i said, you are lucky because you save from the big wave.. then he just silent and i can see he look so sad.. then he said, im not lucky.. i don't feel lucky.. then i understand what he meant.. we always try to break a subject just to wash away the sadness that he felt... because i can feel it too.

Best dive shop Phi Phi [& different]

by jimbo78

There are many dive centers in Phi Phi [about 12 or so], and they all offer pretty much the same thing at the same prices. They all offer local dives trips, wreck trips and Hin Daeng trips. Some centers offer only Padi courses, some offer both Padi and SSI courses.
Luckily we found one dive shop that is slightly different from all the others and we were satisfied 100%, and glad we chose them.
They are called Harlequin Scuba Diving Center, they offer all Padi & SSI dive courses, a full range of dive trips and they are the only center in Phi Phi that is a EANX [nitrox] center also. The main reason they are different from the other shops, is that they are located in a lovely area just a few minutes walk from the main town, directly by the beach. They run their local marine park trips in a small custom made fast dive boat, which leaves from directly outside their shop making the dive trips 'hassle free' in small groups, avoiding the often chaotic main pier of Phi Phi. They often run trips of 2 dives in the morning and 2 dives in the afternoon. All of their equipment is good, their staff are very friendly and also very professional.
We had a great time diving with them, and will highly recommend them to any other travellers and divers.
When you get to Phi Phi, go and check them out your self, and you will see the difference.
