The Amari Palm Reef Resort is situated at the northern end of Chaweng, Koh Samui's most popular beach, only 12 km from Samui airport. Being at the 'end' of the beach road, it's quiter and more relaxing. But don't worry, you're not far from all the action: it's only a 10 minute walk until you reach some of the first cafes, bars and shops of Chaweng. It occupies both sides of the beach road, with chalets on the beachfront and bungalows & regular rooms on the opposite side called "Thai Village". Each side has a pool and fabulous lush tropical gardens. The decor throughout the resort can be described as crisp-clean, modern & stylish fused with Thai influences... to make a long story short - stunning! Prices are expensive in Samui standards, but competitive & very reasonable by the standard's of Western visitors. TIP: Visit their website and take a virtual tour of the resort, as well as taking advantage of their great discounts when booking over the internet!
From balconied suites to family duplexes, the Amari Palm Reef Resort has accommodation to suit every taste. Some of the resort's facilities include: - 2 free-form Swimming Pools - Children's Pool - Jacuzzi - Water Sports (available nearby) - Padi Dive Center - Sivara Spa Restaurants: Merante Seaside Dining - modern decor, great views overlooking the gardens & beach beyond, this restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and a-la-carte dinner. Every weekday is a different theme-night, such as Lobster Night, Pasta Night, etc. Bar@c - located by the pool & exactly beneath the Merante, it's a great place to relax and watch the world go by as the sun goes down. TIP: Their cocktails are awsome! PREGO - One of the coolest & most stylish Italian restaurants on the island, with an extensive menu and pizzas from a wood-fired oven.

The hardware was OK, our room has all the stuff one would expect from a resort room. However, when you look at the details, you can always find something that shouldn't happen in a resort like this for this price. For example, the flush button of the toilet doesn't work very well; there was no garbage bin inside the bathroom; towels were clean but not snow white. The sliding door at the balcony wasn't working very well. The finishings inside the room were actually perfunct. Also, services still have room to improve. It's not bad overall but certainly doesn't worth that much. For example, it took them quite some time to find our bookings and confirm our identities to complete the check-in process and it appeared they didn't know the procedures. I'm sure the staff know, it just that they don't look that professional. What's funny was that the staff had a habbit of passing their work-on-hand to someone else. Not a very efficient way to work, I believe! In general, everyone was polite and tried to be helpful though. It was equally confusing when checking out. The front desk left a copy of charges at our door one day before we check out to remind us the outstanding charges. To our surprise, we were charged for a local phone call made on the day we check in. Obviously, we had made no such call. Although it was not a big deal and the front desk immediately fixed the bill when we check out, we still thought that it shouldn't happen in the first place. It was nice to lie next to the swimming pool, to read books, to watch kids play or to do nothing. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Western, Chinese, and Japanese food all lie on the tables for you to pick. Again, the waitresses could do better with more training. One thing really unpleasant was that my girlfriend found 7 insect bites on her back one day when we woke up. Although it can't be totally avoided in a place full of plants and stuff, it certainly left a bit of bad impression for my girlfriend. :(
Huge room and bed. Too many pillows and cushions inside the room. Excellent Italian restaurant. Nice swimming pools. Free DVD rental.

Wow. Did not expect this. Everything about the resort was suberb, definitely 5* quality. The layout, the service, the food, the pool - wow. The buffet and restaurants were unbelievable. Everything from poached eggs to sushi for breakfast! It catered to american, french, german, japanese, and thai tastes. The hotel is split into two segments. The beach side, which has the main facilities and across the road is the other half. Don't be put off this, it is nice on both sides. However, the road side tended to cater to families more due to the types of rooms there. We especially liked it there in the evenings with the twinkle-light lit palm trees, sea facing loung chairs, outdoor bar, and even beds to lay on! Gorgeous.
What a hotel...........

 | Amari Palm Reef Resort: Palm beach at its best !

Positioned at the secluded end of Samui's Chaweng-beach, the Amari Palm Reef Resort combines high standards of comfort and service with an informal resort atmosphere. There are many very nice thai-style cottages and buildings in a wonderful tropical park with ample space and generous pools between the bungalows The only major flaw is one of the Samui-beach mainstreets, dividing the resort into two parts: function-rooms, reception, restaurant and coffeeshop as well as the beach being on one side, the bungalows and pools on the other. Nevertheless, the rooms and amenities are very convenient, the restaurant and food very good and the service friendly and competent.
Very nice cottages, tropical setting, convenient pools, big rooms, good food and service !
