Economical Luxury

We upgraded to one of the Royal Anantara Suites (room #201)
A sanctuary fit for a king or queen. Matchless luxury. Unparalleled design. Our six Royal Anantara Suites provide the ultimate holiday experience at the Anantara Samui, with 2 featuring private plunge pools. The spacious bathrooms feature Anantara's signature made-for-two terrazzo tubs plus double vanity unit and separate shower.

From the bathroom, sliding teak doors open up on to the bedroom, allowing you to soak with a view. At the heart of each luxuriously appointed Suite is a gorgeous four-poster king-sized bed that is a work of art itself. Meanwhile, the Suite's lounge area is furnished with a sofa accented with Thai silk cushions. Here, you can relax like royalty.

Beautiful Thai artwork accents each room, and a furnished wrap-around terrace provides the perfect locale to spend a lazy afternoon taking in the sweeping sea view. Facilities include satellite television, upgraded bath amenities, mini bar, air conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities and high-speed internet access.

Guests of Royal Anantara Suites are also allowed to take advantage of the following exclusive complimentary services:

Complimentary in-suite soap selection and Ipod connection
When breakfast included, choice of breakfast in room or private breakfast at restaurant
Complimentary one hour drinks & canapes in the bar daily
Complimentary internet access
Complimentary roundtrip airport transfer
Complimentary CD & DVD selection from library
Complimentary 6 pieces laundry or pressing per day
Complimentary freshly squeezed juice upon arrival
Complimentary morning coffee/tea upon wake up call
Choice of one daily international newspaper per day
Complimentary afternoon tea featuring local favourites

Unique Quality: The Anantara began treating us as first class guests within days of making the reservation online. They contacted me quickly to enquire about any special needs or desires such as limousine service and even pillow selection. They even contacted me personally by telephone the day before our flight to Thailand to see if there was anything I wanted at the last moment.

5 star class for half the price

The Anantara Resort on Bophut Beach in Koh Samui is literally amazing. It is truly 5 star accomodations and being a city girl from Detroit, I never stayed in anything close to this type of hotel. It makes the Sheraton look like a rat motel. Anantara is one of the newer resorts in Koh Samui so you will find that it is not overwhelmingly crowded and the price is still competative compared to resorts on Chaweng, yet don't get me wrong it is still expensive. The resort has everything you expect from a classy hotel. You are greeted at the door with wet cloths to wipe your brow and drinks are brought to you as the staff brings you your paperwork. Then a butler carries your bag to your individual room which actually consists of what would be considered suites in the US complete with your own deck to sunbathe. The room is immaculate with down linens and pillows and a humongous bathtub for you and your significant other to relax in. Robes and slippers are provided as well as sandals and a beach bag. The pool is an infinity pool that is brilliantly designed and always at the perfect temperature. There is also a swim up bar from the pool and a hot tub that my husband adored. If sunbathing at poolside is not for you, there is a beautiful white sand beach to greet you complete with sun chairs and umbrellas that belong to the hotel. The water is the beautiful blue crystal clear water that you expect to see in paradise and since Bophut is less crowded than other parts of Koh Samui, sometimes you can find yourself being the only person on the beach. The hotel also has a wonderful library complete with internet access and large sofas and chairs to lounge in as you read your favorite book. There are also on site spa and salon services as well as a wonderful restaurant and bar. They also serve dinner on the beach by moonlight. The resort was brilliant.

More about Anantara Resort & Spa

Lovely boutique hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

Lovely boutique hotel set in beautiful grounds. Ideal place to relax and take things at a slow pace. Rooms are elegantly furnished and spotlessly clean. The breakfast on offer is worth having with so much to choose from. Staff are helpful and curtious. A few minutes walk along the beach from the hotel is Fishermans Village with a variety of bars and restuarants to choose from if you want a change from the hotel. Eating at the hotel is certainly more expensive but the food is nice. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

OMG amazing

This hotel is amazing, better for couples rather than children. Very relaxing and beautifully furnished rooms. Very romantic. Lots of mosquitos though, so beware! Good location to travel out to eat and shop, food was overpriced in the hotel.

Wonderful Quiet Place

by TripAdvisor Member LondonGlobetrotter

We moved from 10 days at Baan Haad Gnaam hotel on Chaweng Beach to here for 3 nights in July.

I actually preferred Bo Phut beach than Chaweng in many ways. The sea is deeper so a few paces in and you could swim. Chaweng is a lovely longish walk to the shallow water on hard sand. So don't be put off beach-wise. Life on the beach in both places is very similar with massages, the usually hawkers etc. The sand on Bo Phut is much rougher and the hotel supplied beach sandals in each room. I loved having my feet exfoliated every day though by the sand. Children may find it a little rough.

The hotel is stunningly beautiful on the plot it stands on. Like all hotels opn Koh Samui, once the plot of land it is on finishes, then there could be a plot of wastelend just next door. Anantara's neighbouring plots are fine and once you are in, practically unnoticeable.

Apart from one very grumpy-to-all barmaid, the staff are great. Very friendly and effeicient and helpful. In fact, the hotel staff who organise the windsurfing etc. on the beach grabbed a few of the other staff and guests one day and we all played beach volleyball. A good change from just sunbathing and thoughful of them. One instructor even continued to give me free lessons on the windsurf the day after my lessons finished.

We also visited the spa. Looks great but we didn't book. The prices were, we felt, astronomical. More expensive than London.

One let down was also the internet. Again, extremely expensive and only one portal which didn't work very well.

If you don't like being ripped off on principle, then when you return to the airport, ask the staff to call you a cab (about 400 bhat) rather than arrange a hotel transfer (800 bhat). They are both the same thing. But reception were so friendly, they told us this themselves.

Have a great stay.

small and beautiful but not 5 star

by TripAdvisor Member holee

the room we stayed in was very small for a 5 star hotel and the pool area was small too. our room faced the pool and the ocean and only a few rooms have such a view. the bathroom was small too and overall room decoration was modern thai. we ate at the hotel most of the time for dinner and the food was great. the staff was very polite and patient and service was spotless. we had great volleyball at the beach everyday. the beach was not as nice as chaweng and you can get great massage at the beach from the local ladies. the garden was beautiful and well mantained.

the hotel is u shaped with one block's entrance facing a road and the opposite block facing gecko, a local bar/restaurant. so, you need to choose your room carefully to get a nice view without noise interference from the neighbouring road and establishments.

overall, i liked the hotel's ambience, food and service but with the small rooms and neighbouring road and establishment, i could not rate this hotel as 5 star with 5 star price

excellent

by TripAdvisor Member jorgoskon

we stayed there 3 nights. it was excellent. only a few minutes walk to the village where you can eat in affordable prices. happily away from the mass turism magnet chaweng but easilly accesible by taxi. the personnel very friendly. the food, breakfast and room service very good. I would go again if I ever visited Ko samui again. During my stay i visited other hotels where friends stayed at the same price but anantara was above any competition.

Great, but very $$$!

by TripAdvisor Member jem2328

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 4 nights. When we arrived, the manager came out and congratulated us and said we were being bumped up to a Royal Anantara Suite, we thought, great! We were very excited to see the gorgeous room and couldn't believe how nice they were to upgrade us for our honeymoon. After 15 minutes of setting in the receptionist rang to say that if we liked the room we had to pay another $120 US per night to stay or they would move us back to our original room!!!

When we agreed to pay the extra to stay on, they asked us to sign a quote for the price of the room, which we did. Upon leaving, they presented the same quote with the amount liquid papered out and a higher rate written on it! We refused to pay the extra as luckily I had written down the original amount. Be Careful!

It is a truly beautiful resort, but the mosquitos are incredibly bad. Got not one bite in Phuket and about 50 the first night in Samui. We never ate at the resort due to the price, and Fisherman's Village is a quick walk and has a fantastic bunch of restaurants. Next time, I will stay at either the Peace Bungalows next door or the Koh Samui Resort & Spa just down a bit. They have bigger pools and are much more spacious.

HINT: eat at the kind of daggy looking restaurant next door at the Peace Bunglows. The food is incredible, so tasty and extremely cheap. We ate there 3 nights out of four!

lovely resort

by TripAdvisor Member kkaammaa

it's a lovely resort with execellent tail style decoration, great pool n serive, very close to the fisherman village where the food n price are good. the breakfast is really great, everything here is good except the price... esp the spa... very expensive, that's y we din't try it. recommend to the couples only, since the open bath room is only perfect for the couples...
