Night Beach Dining - Chaweng

by peteyjim

Does anyone have any recommendations on restaurants on the beach?
I've seen some awesome photos of evening beach dining, and wonder if anyone has any cheap recommendations. I'm not after anything pricey/posh, just standard thai food on the beach.

You can take a romantic walk along the beach in the evening, stop when you see something that appeals to you.
OK :-) I know that's not the answer you are hoping for but it's how we did it and it was ;-) great.

Romance might be killed by the two kids in tow, but if that's what works, it's worth the reply! Cheers... bring it on.

Travel Tips for Ko Samui

Tong Yang

by YaaDong

"Hat Tong Yang" or Tong Yang beach is on the western side of the Island and is quiet and secluded with only afew bungalows .This is a good place for people who want to get away from the crowds. Big John seafood restaurant was not a dissappointment.Wonderful sunsets, deserted peaceful beach .

Muslim Village

by Pat&ZoAnn

On the South East corner of Samui (south of Lamai Beach) is the Muslim Village. We saw pictures of the colourful fishing boats here. Our picture lost a lot of the colour, but they were impressive never the less.

Local publice transportation

by strollingfish

This kind of red car can be flagged down on the main road as it loops around the island. Establish the price beforehand or ask about from your guesthouse so you'll not be overcharged. Press a ring if you want to get off.

Yamoto (Chaweng)

by ratherton about Yamoto (Chaweng)

This Sushi restaurant is Japanese-run with a Japanese Chef. The service was fairly good (except they brought our food separately) and there was a reasonable selection of food However, my non-marine eating tendencies always reduce my options at places like this. I did find some nice chicken. We had lunch and a drink each here and it cost 640,- for 3 for us

Chaweng Beach

by neurochic

Chaweng Beach is a nice beach to spend the day if you aren't actually staying here. The beach is much more crowded than Bophut Beach but that's part of its charm. It's crowded but its nice to lounge in the hot sun and people watch. Here you will get bombarded by vendors selling anything from clothes to jewerly as well as food. Highly recommended is getting pineapple on a stick. Much more refreshing than any drink you can have. It will be difficult to find a lounge chair and you will have to pay a fee. Alot of the restaurants off of the beach have buffets and cheap drinks at happy hour. Also you definitely have to rent wave runners and zoom across the beautiful crystal blue water. Also highly recommended is getting a massage on the beach. You will find many massage therapists that have beds right out on the beach under canopies. My husband and I shared a bed while 2 women gave me a manicure and pedicure and buffed and cut his nails. All of this for only roughly about $10. I would have never been able to pay those prices in the US for a manicure alone and plus you get the added bonus of lying on a beautiful beach while you are being pampered. You will literally feel like the Queen of Sheba.
