August is normally one of the best times for Samui.

Always a chance of rain but normally not enough to worry.Temperature & humidity tend not to be as hot & sticky as other times.

Our experience of weather on Koh Samui is it is quite stable all the year round with temperatures ranging from 28 to 35C, except the end of September, October and the beginning of November which generally is the rainy season. We can get the occasional monsoon passed on down to us from China which can last a few days, without any predictability of time of the year.

Travel Tips for Ko Samui

Fisherman

by Willettsworld

Near enough, wherever you go on Ko Samui, you'll find local fishermen tending to their nets or, if you're around earlier enough, bringing their catch in for market. It is said that the island was first inhabited about 1500 years ago by fishermen from the Malay Peninsula and Southern China and they're still here today. The main place to see them is along the north coast in Bophut in the Fishermen's Village and in the main port town of Nathon on the islands western side.

Drug List

by Princess_Emily about Drug List

You've been at the beach enjoying the sun and surf, now back in your room showering, getting ready to go out, you notice it, sunburn. At this drug store you can find all types of before and after sun creams, shampoos, and other necessary items. A nice cold bottle of drinking water. Prices are comparable with other shops.

CONNECTING FLIGHT VIA BANGKOK AIRPORT

by trevndebs

If you are travelling through Bangkok Airport and they do not check you right through at Samui Airport ( ie. they only give you a boarding pass to Bangkok) then you MUST go to the International Transfer desk on arrival at Bangkok and collect your onward boarding pass for your next flight.
If you do not collect this, you will be turned away from the boarding gate and that could get messy!

24hr eating in Chaweng and Lamai

by jackliveshere about Ninja Crepes

First of all the best thing about this place is it is open 24hrs. Fantastic location in the middle of Chaweng and is very convenient for those late night snacks. Five of us ate here one night and the total bill was 700THB and that was including drinks (non alcoholic) which is around AU$5 per person.

There is also a branch in Lamai, which I did not try on this occasion. I recommend the ninja crepe, which is a thin crepe with half a mango and Thai coconut rice.

Monkeys elephants and waterfalls:)

by shamanwoman

Make at least a motorcycletour, a day trip around the whole island, to see as much as you can. And still there is thousands of things there you havent had time to see;) Monkeys and elephants waterfalls and views you never thought you would see. Paradise in a seashell.
