distances on Ko Samui

by aj31

Hi,

We have friends getting married at Rockys Resort, but this is a bit out of our price range to stay at, and have been told that there are hotels near by, for example Mango Village, but we cannot find out how close these other hotels are. Would anyone be able to give us an idea of how close other hotels might be to one another. And if it would be ok to walk between them at night?

Thanks for any help you can provided.

Looks like the closest hotel to Rockys Resort on Lamai beach would be Thai Ayodhya Villa and Spa, see map on http://www.excelloz.com/Koh_Samui/hotel-Rocky_Resort.html where Rockys is red blob and Thai Ayodhya the yellow no. 1.

Hi, we are living in Samui and above places are next to each other. Approximately 50-100m, so you can walk. If you think we can book room in Mango, since we have tourist office here and we have good relation with Mango Village. We book the room same price as hotel has. If you interest, our email address is: samui_farangs@hotmail.com

Travel Tips for Ko Samui

Ok Phansa

by kls67

Early one morning (we were there in October) we headed out on our motorbikes to do some sightseeing and came across a small but obviously significant procession. Thais all across the country line up to give alms to the monks, before heading down to the local temple to listen to special sermons. And in many parts of the nation, a special cart (resplendent with a Buddha image) is brought down from a hill. Surrounding the cart is an entourage of monks, while the faithful flank each side of the road to fill their alms bowls, in an attempt to recreate the spiritual scenario when the Buddha returned from the realm of the angels. Appearantly, they also give new robes to the monks at this time.

Great Craic!!

by Joey72 about Samui Shamrock

I was in Samui last March and stayed in Chewang Beach, it was far to noisy and smelly so we checked out Lamai beach.Much more chilled and relaxed with far less hassle from vendors on the beach. We dont normally go to irish pubs when on holiday but we were drawn to the Samui Shamrock by the sound of a cracking band. They were playing Thin Lizzy[my favourite band] and lots of other great tracks. The pints of Guinness were also a big attraction served up by a lad from Tipperary,i think his name was Brian.Anyway a great lad full of local knowledge, hes a chef as well so no wonder we had the best steaks we ever had while in Thailand. The girls were happy too, very clean bathrooms!!We will be back again next year. No dress code i think.

Bangkok Air To Samui

by YaaDong

We cought the very early flight out of Bangkok and it was "cool" to see the sun rise as the plane decended to Samui. The airport is what you expect on an Island, picturesque exotic awooden structure.Very unusual .
Bangkok Airways own this little private airport on Koh Samui so they are the only airline to provide flights to and from Koh Samui. The prices vary depending on season .The cheaper flights are usually early in the morning 6am and late at night 10pm.The flight from Bangkok to Samui takes about 45 minutes and the sevice is very good.
Remember there is a 400 baht tax per person when you leave.

Willing to Wait?

by ATXtraveler about Will Wait Restaurant and Bakery

After a long day travelling around the island and interacting with monkeys, elephants and other animals, Sarah and I decided to go have a healthy lunch on Chaweng Beach Road. Chaweng Beach road is the head of commerce in Koh Samui, and we quickly were approached to buy fake rolexes and American DVD.

When we got to "Will Wait", we hoped it was worth it, so we sat down and enjoyed a Coca-Cola and watched how long it took to place an order. No time flat! Very quick service, and delicious food!!

Sarah went with the traditional Pad Thai, while I opted for the garlic chilli chicken soup. Both were very delicious! I actually added a little extra fish sauce with chilli mixed in.

I would definitely recommend the "Wait".

the BIG buddha

by alvinljc

It's big and golden. We were told to make a wish and then throw coins onto the buddha's palm. If the coin did fall onto it's palm and stays, then the wish will be fulfilled. I didn't get my coin onto his palm.
