The Baan Talay Resort in Koh Samui is our favourite place.
The price last July which was the low season was 1500 baht which included breakfast. It is a new complex which is modern and clean and each room overlooks the fantastic pool. The staff there are extremely friendly and they couldn't do enough for us and we hope to go back to see them this year.
Thailand is our favourite holiday destination. This is the Baan Talay Resort in Koh Samui which is located on Chaweng Beach and is a really friendly place. It is a brand new resort and situated right on the beach. This is my friend Paew.

my boyfriend and i are thinking of staying in the 'samui newstar resort' which on the map is quite low down chaweng beach...do you know how long it would take to get to the restaurants and shops of chaweng by foot? we dont want to be so far away we have to get a taxi - can we walk there via the beach the whole way or would a road be involved!?
if it is a bit too much of a mission do you have any recommendations for a nice resort with a pool in a quiet but not too far area from the nice restaurants? we are willing to pay up to 2100 baht per night.
the baan talay resort is another option we are interested in - have you been there?

I ve been to Koh Samui 5 times & have stayed at Chaweng Resort 3 times & highly recommend it.
It fits perfectly with what you describe , 2 pools,away from the hustle & bustle of main Chaweng yet in walking distance (15 mins) & there are some nice restaurants in the south Chaweng area.

Newstar is situated on Chaweng Noi... the area is quite hilly... I think it will take too long to reach the Chaweng restaurant area... may be 30-40 minutes walk... choose something on Chaweng beach like Chaweng Cabana...
