Simple Accommodation in quiet location

by evamariapaula

Hi there!
Can anyone recommend simple Accommodation in Ko Samui for 2 adults and 3 younger children. We would like to be a bit away from the parties and nightlife and the most important part is a beautiful beach for swimming and snorkelling. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, Eva

Focus your search on Maenam Beach for quiet accomodations and calm seas.

Hi

In 2005 we've stayed at Zazen at Bophut beach. Very quiet beach. Zazen is a great boutique resort with excellent food, very friendly staff and beautiful bungalows (some of them are right on the beach, others in the tropical garden). The hotel is more up in the higher price-range though.

Our stay in
Amari Palm Reef Resort hotel was only for 2 nights. The property is located in Chaweng, one of the busiest beach of Koh Samui. The architecture of the resort is simply superb. The reception area, pool and restautants are sea facing and enjoy a beautiful sight. However, only a few rooms are available which are sea facing which were quite expensive. We had booked a standard room and expected that even though not sea facing, it would atleast be located near the beach.

Travel Tips for Ko Samui

Meeting the monkeys

by phil_uk_net

A key industry on Koh Samui is coconut growing. The coconut pines grow high and the fruit is right at the top. Monkeys are specially trained to shimmy up the trees and twist the coconuts off before sending them crashing to the ground. The tourist trail around Samui will normally take you somewhere to see a demonstration of this.

Tailors

by clouds111 about Various

There are a number of tailors around Samui that will make you tailored clothes and suits in just a couple of days and very cheaply. However I would recommend having a picture for them to work from because my friend went in and asked for a top and she did her best to describe it and it looked absolutely HILARIOUS when it was finished! tuk tuk or bike?

by maybetara

Lots of tourists rent bikes and scooters to get around the island. Which is great if you are a careful and good rider cos it offers a flexibility no other form of transport can provide. But not so great if you're not a experienced rider because samui's roads are often pot-holed (you can't see them in the night), dark (street lamps line only some streets and not all vehicles turn on their lights in the night) and dangerous (people drive recklessly there). My cousin got hurt in a scooter accident that kept us out of the water for the rest of our holiday. At the hospital, we were told by the doctor that traffic accidents involving tourists form the vast majority of cases every day. The Tuk-tuk or the pickup taxi are good forms of public transportation. there are also scooter/bike taxis but we refused to take any after one taxi rider insisted that my cousin and i (both grown women) squeeze the bike behind him!

Restaurants all around

by Sajt

You don't have to worry about restaurants on the island. I tought, that if we go inside the island the restaurants will be chepaer. I was wrond, but I didn't care. The food on the island is cheap anyway. I tried to eat shark for 300 Bat, barracuda for 300 Bat. I tried seafood, but in usually I eat simple food for cheap prize.

The Chedi Spa - Ayutthya Theme Spa Centre

by ECYM

You will find this SPA centre well-decorated as if you are in a mini-Ayutthya palace. Great service, as they are able to fetch you to/fro your resort.

Natural ingredients, from sesame seeds to cucumber, are used for all treatments.

A two and half hour package that includes a body scrub, a body wrap, a massage and a facial costs around 3000B.
