    20 steps to the sea

    by

Chaweng Gardens is a great, basic place to stay. The accommodation consists of Thai style wooden bungalows as well as some brick rooms. We chose a brick room as it was cooler and had cool tiled flooring. The triple room had aircon, TV, Bar fridge and big bathroom. It was serviced daily. We also had a little balcony which was great to sit on during the afternoon's rainy downpour. This place also has a lovely little restaurant and serves up dinner on the beach in the evenings. We paid about B1300 per night for a 3-sleeper room.
The location is central to everything - less than a minute to the centre of the main road.
Great place to stay, would highly recommend it for location, service and price.

Unique Quality: No pool, its right on the beach.
    Very convenient

Chaweng Garden Beach is a small resort complex located in the centre of Hat Chaweng. The bungalows are quite spacious, with air conditioning or fans, hot water and linen povided. There is a restaurant along the beach, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable prices. The complex is quiet, wit nice gardens and a good swimming beach.

800 bath for a bungalow (2 persons). This was in the high season. The prices varies during the seasons. Located right on the beach, one minute walking distance both to the beach and the main street.

Koh Samui

"Beautiful beaches"

The island does not only offer great nightclubs and alot of backpackers, it offers beautiful beaches and good resturants aswell. I stayed in a huge room at Chaweng Garden Resort on Chaweng beach for about 450 bath per night. A great place close to the beach AND to the nighclubs (but without disturbance).

Rent a moped or a car and drive around the island. It will cost you close to nothing and is a full day trip. You can choose from alot of things to see, just get a island map and start driving, no need to use a local guide! The picture shows one of many waterfalls.

Another stop worth visit is the huge buddah, about 18 meters tall if i remember it correctly. There's a great view of Koh Phangan if you walk up to the top.

Thailand for the gals

"At last!"

After months of planning, we took the plunge and headed off to Thailand for a dream holiday - sun, sand, shopping... heaven for three girls!

First stop - Bangkok! An overwhelming experience. After negotiating our way out of the airport, we found ourselves in the parking lot in 38 degrees Celsius. A shock to the system. Traffic, people, tuk-tuks, more people, more traffic - but an amazing buzz and vibrancy!

Three days of sightseeing and exploring Kho San Road. The Grand Palace was awesome. Went to some beautiful temples and loved the buzz of Kho San Road. And all the time, we had to restrain ourselves from buying everything in sight. Wonderful, wonderful Singha Beers and the most delicious food...

"Koh Samui"

We made our way to Koh Samui Island by overnight train, bus and ferry. A wonderful adventure-but not for the faint-hearted! The island is a tropical paradise - picture perfect. Stayed at Chaweng Gardens Resort on Chaweng Beach. It was literally a minute's walk from our door to the water. We had the most wonderful seafood for dinner right on the beach and went for walks to explore the nighlife later.

"Bo Phut beach"

We hired a jeep and drove around the island - visiting Bo Phut beach. This is a charming fishing village with a completely different feel to the rest of the island. Its very quaint and has the most beautiful, interesting little shops.

has anyone stayed at Chaweng Garden beach resort?

by gabbyc

HI
just hoping someone can help me here. Has anyone stayed in this hotel? I really need to know if the resort is actually on the beach and if it opens out to the beach. Do they have sun lounges?

We normally stay at another hotel in samui but this one is well priced so was thinking of trying something new

any help is appreciated!

cheers

We stayed there a couple of years ago, yes it does open out onto the beach and there is sun lounges available at the pool area, but you had better be early to get one.
There are also lounges for hire on the beach directly in front of the resort with a massage if you so wish. We didn't think much of the hotel itself with garbage littered around our unit and the facilities in the room mediocre for the price we paid, not complaining mind you just wouldn't go there again.
Any further questions feel free to ask.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Sundays Sanctuary Resort & Spa Koh Samui for the x-mas holidays and it turned out to be a great resort. The hotel is situated in Bohput and is close to the fishermen's town (the nicest part of the island).

The staff is very friendly and the resort was very relaxing when we were there. If you like Thai food, then definitely try out the dishes at the hotel. We tried out different places to eat on the island and found that the best meals were actually at the hotel (especially when you consider the prices). The breakfast is quite simple however.

Also, there is free internet facility at the hotel and it's certainly worth trying out the spa (although it's not cheap).

In short we loved our stay at Sundays and we highly recommend it.

Re: Beach Bungalows

by kevinmuldoon

i think thats the place ive stayed at (cant remember if thats the exact name as some of the places have similar names)

anyways, ive stayed here twice, the beach huts are directly across from burger king on the beach.

1000bhat gets you a two bedroom with tv and warm shower - i think the cheapest is 400 bt for 2 beds and cold shower

first time i was there was last october and we got a room with a tv - i went back in january of this year. Although koh samui was only half as busy as october, the beach huts were a lot busier - but you should be able to book on arrivle with no problems

theres plenty of good places on the beach in chaweng - your not going to be left short anyways

hope this helps- ill be back in thailand in september 04 so ill probably head back there for a few days before the full moon :)

Where to stay

by ameliacyp

Hi fellow virtual tourists!!
We stayed in Phuket, Patong Bay Garden Resort on Patong in February for just over 2 weeks and loved it. We were not bothered with Bangla Road and stayed to Coyotes, Molly Malones, The Savoy Restaurant and our own Hotel.
We are going to try Koh Samui later January for hopefully ten days and then pop to Patong for 5/6 days.
Can you suggest where we should stay on Chaweng Beach? We are interested in Bed & Breakfast, as close to the beach as possible and not more than 5 minute walk to the bars and restaurants. We would like spa or at least massage by the hotel too.
Look forward to your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Re: Where to stay

by johnaalex

I also stay at Patong Bay Garden Resort and would suggest the Banana Fan Resort on Chaweng. It is about half way down the beach so to get to the main bars and restuarants a short tuk tuk ride is my preferred option. The rooms are right on the beach (the reason why I like PBGR).

Regards

John

Try Malibu Resort or Al's Resort. This is about 5 min walk to the main nightlife in Chaweng. Chaweng Garden Resort is also newly renovated this year and is quite good.

I Recommented Cabana Beach Resort, not more than 5 minute walk to the bars and restaurants.Located on the peaceful, less developed northern stretch of Chaweng Beach.
