Thai Immigration
by MikeAtSea
Entry into Thailand is relativley easy. Almost every nationality obtains a visa for 30 days at the point of entry. Only a hand full of nationalities require a visa to enter the Kingdom. The 30 day visa however is very difficult to extend once in Thailand. The visa run – as people call it who wish to stay longer, means to return to the border and re-enter Thailand for another 30 days. Tourist visas issued at a Thai Embassy are valid for two months and can be extended once within the country.
Medical care and supplies
by Pomska
In Koh Samui you could find easily medical care and supplies. Just head for a hospital (I used a hospital which is situated near Amari Palm Reef Hotel) and ask advise or go straight to the pharmacy store.
Seedy!
by clouds111 about Reggae Bar
Hmmmm what to say about the Reggae Bar.... Well it's a great place to see the seedier side of Samui that's for sure. It does what it says - it's a reggae bar so expect lots of Bob Marley tunes. It was reasonably quiet when we went and seemed to be mainly older men surrounded by very young Thai girls.
It has its plus points though - there's a nice view over the lake and the cocktails are pretty good. Would have liked to have seen it when it was a bit more lively but it wasn't my cup of tea so I avoided the place after that... No dress code
Train Coach Boat Combo Ticket
by YaaDong
You can buy the train/ bus /boat combo ticket at any travel agent down Khaosan Rd.The tickets are cheap no more than 300 baht. It's a long trip but you have a sleeper on the over night train .During the journey a guy comes around selling food ,beers and coffee in the morning. You can even have a shower if your up for it.A coach picks you up at Surat Thani station and takes you to the pier where you can have breakfast before you catch the boat to Samui. The boat is aircon with lots of life jackets and a movie to watch. This type of ticket is good value if you are on a budget.
