Good Place

As we traveled around the island we stopped in an Internet cafe and were told of this place by the girl that worked at the front desk (her aunt ran it). Best place we found - moderate prices included a great breakfast everyday. The staff was great in helping us around the island with lots of tips and suggestions. Our bungelow had air conditioning and a very cute and inviting private deck where we spent most nights eating and drinking.

Unique Quality: If you visit the website - the pictures simply do not do this place justice....the rooms were very very clean and spacious. It is literally "on the beach" which is a perfect location.

Beach Resort on Lamai Beach

When we arrived on Koh Samui with the late plane from Bangkok (around midnight) most of the bungalow resorts had closed for the night, so this was the only one we found that was still open. Because they were building a new pool and restaurant at the time, we got a AC room for 1000 bath, which is cheaper than their usual fares. The room was OK, but not worth thw money, we could have stayed at cheaper and better days. The next morning we moved in to one of their deluxe bungalowes, which was better. We paied 1200 bath each night here, and it was good vakue for the money.
However, today the rates are much higher, since the redecorating and building is finished.

The resort is placed right on the beach, and the view is stunning... But the receptionists and staff were not very friendly, and we left after 3 days...

Unique Quality: The facilities on the resort are great!! When we returned to Lamai one year after our stay at Golden Sands, we stopped by to see how it looked after the redecorating was finished, and it was beautiful!!! They now have a nice restaurant as well, so it`s probably better to stay there now (We stayed there in july 2005)

The hotel was clean and the pool fantastic. The beach was almost empty all day long and the sea was at the right temperature for me... 28º
