Lucky Mother Bungalow: Lucky Mother Bungalow

After staying in Your Place Resort for the first night I moved to Lucky Mother Bungalow for 700bt a night with fan which is also situated at Chaweng Beach. The room that we’ve got is much nicer and also nearer to the town area. The beach in front of this place is much better that the earlier place.

Your Place Resort: Your Place Resort

This place is situated at Chaweng Beach. I stayed here for my first night because I was not prepared for Koh Samui when I got here and there was a guy selling accommodation at the pier. We agreed at 500bht for a bungalow with fan. The place was pretty ok but it was really far from the town area. The resort is situated at the far end of the street and if you want to walk to the main area it will take you at least 15 minutes on foot. If you want to stay here, best rent a motorbike.

Animal-Friendly Hotels on Ko Samui: Animal-Friendly Hotels on Ko Samui

In the past and even today on rare occasions, the authorities or hotel owners on Ko Samui have poisoned stray cats & dogs. Death by poisoning is long and horrifically painful for the animal!

If you're a friend of animals you can now enable the dogs and cats on Samui to have a better life. An initiative to support the DRCS (Dog Rescue Centre Samui - Brigitte & Werner Gomm) protection of the beach dogs on Koh Samui has been set-up: The Seal for "Animal Friends Hotels" on the island helps you choose those hotels that do not kill animals.

First off: the animals do not belong to the corresponding hotels, they are strays. "Animal friendly" doesn't mean that animals are allowed on the hotel property, but that they have their natural territory on the beach and aren't in danger of being poisoned or otherwise hurt.

The animals living at these hotels have been sterilized & are vaccinated regularly: you don't have to be afraid of illnesses.

If you feel molested by the animals, a simple "GO!" will be enough and they will leave you alone; There is no need to throw stones or kick them!
--> Did you know that thanks to the work done by Brigitte & her husband Werner, Ko Samui is the only island in Thailand that is completely free of rabies!

Some of the dogs will look scary, especially when they have mange or wounds from a street fight. Guests always inform the reception about these occasions. Very often the personnel at the reception doesn't understand the problem or fully comprehend the feelings of Western tourists; so they falsely understand it as a complaint and because of these misunderstandings again some animals may be "removed".

Please think beforehand if a complaint is necessary and consider the possible consequences to the animals. If you feel that the hotel is unable to understand or help with your concerns, contact the Dog & Cat Rescue Centre directly! Tel: 0066-77-413 490 or 0066-81-893 9443.

Embassy: The newest budget accommodation on Chaweng Beach

Embassy is a rarity these days on Chaweng Beach as it caters for the budget concious traveller whilst giving you a level of comfort & facilities rarely seen in accommodation in this price range.

Embassy also has a bar & restaurant, internet cafe & a travel desk to cater for any of your tour enquiries. There is also a nice deck overlooking the busy Chaweng Beach Road which is perfect for a touch of Al Fresco dining & people watching(one of my favourite pastimes on Samui)

There are 4 rooms available. All rooms are newly renovated with nice modern colour themes and comfortable furnishings with free wifi internet access and DVD library to choose from.

Three rooms have a shared washroom with hot water shower and are kept very clean

All rooms have cable TV (36 channels), a vanity dresser and a clothes wrack.

The small room has an air con, DVD player and a king size bed.

The fan room has king size bed and a fan.

Both of these rooms would seem perfect & a great way to save money for 1,2 or even 3 guests as the bed is 6 foot by 6'6''.

The third room is The Big Room & is much larger at 24 sq meters and has air con, a king size bed , twin bed, fold out sofa that can be made into an extra bed, DVD player, room divider and outdoor patio.

This room is perfect for groups of 2 to 4 and a great way to save money, but still experience the cleanliness and comfort of a first class room.

The 4th & best room is called The Loft & is brand new and has its own ensuite and offers king size bed, fold out sofa, hot water shower, TV with cable, remote control air con fridge and DVD player .This room is really nice & extremely well priced.

Price ranges for these rooms are as follows

Standard room with a fan & king size bed is between 500 - 700 THB per night.

Standard room with Air con is between 650 - 900 THB per night

The deluxe big room is between 800 - 1200 THB

The loft with ensuite is between 1000 & 1500 THB

Hathai House: Awesome economical Hotel

Hathai house is an excellent facility at Lamai Beach on Koh Samui.
A relatively new building, with 16 awesome rooms, all opening out onto
either the balcony or the swimming pool, so there is no annoying noises
in the corridors!! We had the best week there, the staff are great, the
place is spotless, and the owners speak perfect english. They have their own
kitchen and prepare beautiful meals, and are able to cater for any request.
Jimmy and his family go out of their way to make sure that you enjoy your time
there. We are definitely going back.

Nice clean pool.
About 5-10 mins walk from the beach.
Very quiet and relaxing.

The Lamai Coconut resort: Great Sea View at a 1000B

This is just over our budget, but worth it.

Really comfortable bungalows, with big comfy double bed, fan, A/C, fridge and generous sized bathroom with hot water. Dark wood furnishings inside. The best bit is that we can look out of the large window and see the sea. Generous sized balcony looks out onto the sea as well. There are cheaper options that don't have the view. The staff are friendly.

Considering the prices in this area, this is a good deal. Close to the beach.

Matlang Resort: Stayed around Chaewang Beach,

Comfortable chalets for our group. We had hired own transport and so easy to get to Chaweng Beach and other parts of Ko Samui.

There was renovation going on when we were there. But since we were out almost the whole day and night, it was no problem.

Quiet and can have a nice view of the beach and island of Matlang.

lucky mother

cheap bungalows in the front, but the real prize is the amzing rooms in in the back at a fraction of the cost that you would pay at a large resort. the only thing to keep in mind is that it is a cash only hotel (so leave your checkbook at home).

Laguna: Laguna resort, Lamai Beach

Great reasonably priced hotel on the outskirts of Lamai Beach about 8 minutes walk to the centre of town so its quiet at night but not far to the busy nightlife.
The rooms in the hotel are clean and of a good size..............i cannot comment on the bungerlows as i didn't see inside them.
The staff are friendly and there is a good laundry service, the pool is of a good size and clean, the hotel gardens are well kept and just past these is the resturant and the lovely beach with a good beach bar.
The resturant here serves good well priced food but we only ate here a few times as there is better in the town.
Outside the hotel is a main busy road but this did not effect our stay here and over the road is a friendly travel agent who we hired a car and 125 scooter from.

Good pool
Friedly staff
Fantastic Beach

Central Samui Beach Resort: Nicest Hotel in the Main Part of Koh Samui

The hotel itself is fabulous. Wide-open Lobby, beautiful scenary, and large impressive grounds off Chaweng Beach. The pool area is really nice, and we could of spent our entire time there. The rooms were decent, but nothing too spectacular. The restaurants at the hotel were fine, but being more adventuresome, we liked to go into the neighborhood to check out various restaurants. We liked the location of the hotel with respect to hanging out around the main shopping areas and nightlife.

However, the service was probably not as good as the other places in Thailand where we stayed. It still good compared to US standards, but definitely nowhere near the top notched hotels in Asia. A reason may be b/c the hotel is relatively large and almost always full (from my research), and thus, the service seemed much less personable. The maid service also seemed to be mediocre. No matter what there always seemed to be sand in our room.

Pool Area Is Spectacular and Proximity to the Beach and Nightlife.

CENTRAL SAMUI VILLAGE: PERFECT PLACE TO RECHARGE...

WE STAYED AT THE CENTRAL SAMUI VILLAGE FOR 17 NIGHTS AFTER A MAD 4 DAYS SEEING THE SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF BANGKOK.
AFTER BANGKOK WE WHERE READY TO CHILL OUT AND CATCH OUR BREATH, AND WE HAD FOUND THE PERFECT PLACE TO DO IT.
SAMUI VILLAGE IS IN THE SOUTH EAST OF THE ISLAND AND THE WHOLE COMPLEX IS BUILT ON THE SIDE OF A HILL RUNNING DOWN TO THE SEA, ALL 100 VILLAS BLEND INTO THE HILLSIDE GIVING IT A PERFECT AT HOME WITH NATURE FEEL.
WE STAYED IN A DELUX SEAVIEW VILLA AND I HAVE TO SAY WE LOVED IT..THE WHOLE COMPLEX IS 3 STAR AND I WILL SAY HERE AND NOW THAT THE RATING DOES NOT DO THE PLACE JUSTICE. OUR ROOM WAS ON VERY HIGH STILTS GIVING IT FANTASTIC SEA VIEWS FROM ITS OWN SUN DECK COMPLETE WITH TWO SUNBEDS...THE ROOM HAS A LOVELY FOUR POSTER BED..TV ..MINIBAR..AND LARGE BATHROOM.
THE COMPLEX HAS THREE SWIMMING POOLS, THE MAIN ONE BEING IN THE SHAPE OF A BUTTERFLY, THIS LEADS DOWN TO A VERY NICE BEACH. THE OTHER POOLS ARE VERY QUIET, MOSTLY USED BY GUESTS FOR READING OR JUST CHILLING.
THERE IS ALSO A LOVELY RESTAURANT OVERLOOKING THE BEACH..WE FOUND THIS TO BE USED FOR BOTH BREAKFAST AND DINNER.
THE HOTEL RUNS A FREE SHUTTLE BUS INTO CHAWENG AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY,
WE FOUND THAT BY BOOKING A DAY IN ADVANCE HELPS AS THE BUS BOOKS OUT QUITE QUICKLY. THE JOURNEY TIME TO CHAWENG TAKES 30 MINS.
ALL IN ALL WE FOUND THE CENTRAL SAMUI VILLAGE A FANTASTIC PLACE TO STAY WHILE ON KO SAMUI..THE ONLY THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT AS ITS BUILT ON A HILLSIDE IT IS NOT WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY. THAT ASIDE I COULD NOT FIND ANY FAULTS WITH THIS UNDERRATED GEM AND I HAVE NO DOUBT WE WILL RETURN AGAIN.

THE QUALITIES OF THE CENTRAL SAMUI VILLAGE ARE WITHOUT DOUBT THE VILLAS..
ALL INDIVIDUAL THEY OFFER BOTH STYLE AND PRIVACY..PLUS THE SUNDECK AND SUNBEDS ARE A REAL BONUS.
THIS IS THE KIND OF PLACE WHERE YOU COME AND RELAX AND FORGET THE CARES OF MODERN LIFE...IF ONLY FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

Long Island Resort and Spa: Peace and quiet - yes on Koh Samui!

We have stayed here twice now, once in 2002 in a basic hut with fan - which was clean and spacious. The second time we visited was in 2004 and we stayed in the fancier bungalows (as a birthday treat).

I love it here but felt that it wasn't quite as good the second time - although still very nice - this could be due to the fact that on our first trip there was a really nice vibrant atmosphere, which was lacking the second time. This may easily be due to the clientel and have little to do with the resort which is still a real 'find'.

The restaurant was very good with lots of Thai and Western dishes.

The spa is unusual, the steam room is built around a huge rock, and you can have massages in the open air sala.

Coconut Beach Resort: Looked fun!

Again, I didn't stay here, but passed by and dropped in to inquire about prices and availability. Lovely wooden hut bungalows in the midst of really tall coconut trees. Only 300Baht a night including inside shower, toilet and sink with fan. A little cramped but directly on the beach. There was a restaurant and bar attached but the prices were steep compared to other places on Lamai Beach. This was located fairly north of the beach where there was more happening and closer to the nightlife area.

The photo attached is not of the bungalow but it was the only one I had of some tall coconut trees!!
