Weather in July
by amywade
Hi there
We are going to Koh Samui in early July, from around 2nd to 13th July. I have looked on the internet but was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up of the weather there around this time? From personal experience maybe? Some sites say it will be fine weather while others say it will be raining most of the time!
Thanks in advance for your help! =)

Was last in Koh Samui back in 2005 and the weather then was glorious sunshine with just the odd cloudy day, but do expect maybe cloud will build up late in the afternoon for a shower but you will welcoming it, just to cool off a little, it will hot and humid.
They say Phuket and Koh Samui have different seasons but you will not notice it's more of a local thing, at the end of the day Phuket and Koh Samui will be sunny, hot and humid. but still worth going.
I have been to Phuket as late as mid June and it is same as well.
Thats my experience.

Really hot and humid are the correct words to describe the weather in Koh Samui for July. Last year my cousin went there in July during his vacations and experienced hot sun, except for the occasional downpour, which usually didn't last long. This type of weather is bound to make you sweat a lot. So do carry lots of liquid or ORS to replenish your lost salts.

Hi
No need to worry about rain...You will get some usually late arvo thunderstorms that can go as quick as they come & they will drop plenty of rain & cool things down a little but nothing that will affect your day.July is in the hottest period for Samui so remember your sunscreen at all times.
Hope this helps

I was working in Koh Samui for about 1 and a half years. June, July and August the weather is great. My offdays was on the beach the whole day. I stayed at Chaweng Noi and the beach there is beautiful. The airport is really beautiful. So don't worry about the weather, its a great place to visit. Going back there sometime next year again.
Travel Tips for Ko Samui
A DREAM COME TRUE
by mamasan69
This is a tough one, since this was my first trip I let my brother show me the way through most things. However, I guess I could blend a few activities together, until after my next trip and then I can answer this a little better.
On that note, I would have to say that the beaches and nightlife were tops on my list this time. Chaweng beach is great and it was a very nice place to swim and stay on. The bars including the Green Mango, but especially the Reggae Pub, will bring me back to Koh Samui forever. The beach, food, people, sites, parties, bar scene, and most of all the Thailand atmosphere. I plan to go back every five months from now on, so I will keep this list updated for sure.
Scuba diving Chumpone Pinnacle
by RonSamui
The best diving site around Koh Samui - Koh Tao. This is great site for diver with minimum experience of Advance Open Water divers. By far Samui’ most impressive and desirable (by revisiting divers) dive site, Chumphon Pinnacle is also one of the most challenging dive sites with occasionally strong currents and a maximum depth of 36m (120ft). The site consists of four massive pinnacles that tower up to 16m (53ft) below the surface.
As the site is a good distance offshore, in season visibility is excellent, more than 30m (100ft) and Regular sightings of whale sharks and grey reef sharks make this dive site one of the 'musts' of your trip. The pinnacles themselves are completely carpeted with sea anemones, and schools of batfish, barracudas, trevally & fusiliers create a spectacular scene in the surrounding waters..
Searobin Dive Center in Koh Samui uses a state of the art Speedboat to get you to Chumpone pinnacle within 1.5 hours. As Bangkok air allows only 15kg of luggage without extra charge I recommend only brining your dive computer and mask. The rest of the equipment can be rented and is in great condition.
Irish Pub
by clouds111 about Tropical Murphy's
You can't go anywhere in the world without coming across an Irish pub which says a lot for their popularity and Tropical Murphy's certainly attracts a crowd. Situated in central Chaweng Beach Road it has a really great atmosphere and also serves good food especially if you're looking for those dishes that remind you of home.
They have live music every night of the week in the upstairs bar from traditional Irish folk music (which will get you up dancing) to more modern rock/pop. There are also some big screens which show most major sporting events. Great night out, so pop in for a guiness!

Aquarium and Tiger Zoo
by JohnandSuzie
This place is best visited by hiring a scooter or car and travelling there yourself..........by car about 20 minutes from Lamai a further 10 minutes from Chaweng. It is located just off the southern loop road on Koh Samui.
The Aquarium is small but interesting, there is a good bird and tiger show and you can have your photo taken with a tiger for 500tb. The enterance fee is minimal. The show is on 2 or 3 times a day.
