Where cultural beauty meets

"Nora" is named after the traditional dance of southern Thailand.
The resort enjoys a spectacular hillside setting, overlooking a secluded bay just north of the famous Chaweng Beach.
One of the most charming featurs of the resort is the terraced stream, which runs from a pool in the lobby and gently flows through the grounds before plunging off a waterfall and mixing with the waters of the Thai gulf.
The "Ocean Pool Villa" which was our choice of suite is situated right on the beach front, with our own exclusive private pool and jacuzzi and a view of Chaweng's secret beach.

Unique Quality: 138 suare meters of accomodation. Polished wooden floors, dressing room, bathroom with showers.
The lounge has a DVD player, TV, bar fridge and beautiful comfortable sofas, overlooking your pool as well as the beach.
You can "Hop" out of your open lounge window into the pool.....so different.

The Best on Ko Samui

This must rate as one of the best hotels/resorts we have stayed at. We have stayed at many excellent hotels, especially in South Africa where we have top standard hotels. The Nora was a wonderful experience. Koh Samui is a very small island. I would rate this as one of the best resorts. We had a Villa on the beach, with 138 sq metres of acommodation with our own private beach, pool and jacuzzi. The service was outstanding. It is a little more expensive than the standard hotels, but well worth it. Service was top rate. When calling for anything, whether it be room service, beach towels or a ride to the main lobby, we were attended to within minutes. The restaurant was outstanding. Beautiful accomadation with rose petals floating in your bath, or frangipani on your bed. Loved it!!!!

Unique Quality: Lovely quiet beach.

5 star comfort...at Nora

Nora Resort & Spa is a very good place to spoil yourself. You get what you pay for here "5 star service".The resort is about 10 minutes from the airport. It is situated on a lush green hill that winds down to a beach,so you can enjoy both the sea and the wonderful curved pool with a swim up bar .There are 40 villas the sea views are by far the best. The resort also has a cheaper 3 storey hotel with terraces as well. This resort offers basically everything you need at 4000-8000 baht per night depending on rooms and season.Nora is "post card stuff".

Unique Quality: The restaurant here serve very nice food the buffet breakfast is awsome.Go the Nora's wing cocktail when chilling around the pool.If you want to check out the island or beaches nearby there are free canoes for guest. For swimming Nora's beach is a little rocky but if you go paddle to the next beach it's much better.A word of warning , people try to reserve banana chairs around the pool at the crack of dawn .A punch up almost started between an Aussie and a Frenchman. So getting a spot in the sun is serious business here.Anyway the staff at Nora where all very nice and friendly.

Luxury!

This place is truly beautiful. Tropical gardens, running streams and ponds. The service is great and amenities are too.

Unfortunatly, there was a minor stuff up with our bookings, due to Qantas holidays we believe, and when we arrived at the hotel they did not have a booking for us, only a cancellation. They were more than helpfull and accomodating, they put us in our intended room for one night, moved us to the Chaba Cababa the next night and then for our remaining 4 nights we got an upgrade to a villa! The whole thing was pretty painless and now we are in the unique position of being able to recommend 2 1/2 hotels on one trip to Koh Samui! The Nora Beach standard room, the Chaba Cabana and the Nora Beach Villa!!

Unique Quality: The Nora Beach is set on a the side of a hill, about 4kms from the centre of Chaweng Beach main street. This is where you get shopping and meals. You can get a taxi or tuk tuk truck which takes all of a few minutes to get to the hotel. Only costs about 40 baht, although you may be able to get it for cheaper. So if you want to be at the centre of the action, stay in town. However if you want real relaxation, stay at the Nora.

They have a free internet service for guests, a great little cocktail bar, pool right next to the beach, swim up bar, pool side meals, a spa where I got a fantastic Thai massage and a restaurant where they have nightly themes and entertainment.

If you can't get around all that well, be aware that from the lobby to the beach - where the pool and food is - is a bit of a hike and is on a slope.

All up a really great stay.

Luxuary accommodation

The Nora Beach hotel is situated on the outskirts of Chaweng beach - about a 5 min ride in a tuk tuk.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Nora Beach Resort last July. The Staff were friendly and helpful attending to all your needs and organising tours/golf etc.
I would definitely return to the Nora Beach hotel.

Unique Quality: Our hotel room had a balcony with great views looking out to the sea. The swimming pool is literally on the beach, with a poolside bar serving cocktails which can be drank whilst sitting in the pool on the bar stools! The breakfast was good - fresh fruit, cooked breakfast and a range of cereals, breads and fruit juices. In the reception area there are 2 computers with internet access - free of charge. Didn't eat in the restaurant at lunch or at night - found the prices a bit higher than restaurants and the choice was nothing special.
The hotel and villa is built on a slight hill -
so if you have walking difficulties this may not be for you.

More about Nora Beach Resort & Spa

fantastic resort

by TripAdvisor Member tenny47

we have just returned from a week at the nora beach resort and spa. The hotel is magnificent in a wonderful location and we have never experienced such incredible service before.
i had read many of the reports before going which were quite mixed but personnally think that some people must have gone to a diferent place. To have the incredible breakfast at such a lovely location made all your days there get off to a lovely start. We stayed in one of the Nora villas which was very spacious and very clean. the hotel is set on a hill with the reception at the top and pool virtually on the beach. it was incredibly hot while we were there so we nicknamed the walk back up to reception as cardiac hill. don't be put off by this just take a trip there you won't be dissapointed.

Just perfect!

Can't fault a thing about the lovely Nora Beach Resort and Spa. The staff are amazing, the facilities are top class, the gardens are divine and the food and drink is delicious!

The location is perfect if you don't mind forking out 50 to 100 Baht for a tuk tuk ride to the main shopping/eating beach of Chaweng.

We stayed in an Ocena Villa for 2 weeks for our honeymoon and had the very best time. We certainly want to return one day and would love to do so with a small groups of friends, but probably save a bit and just stay in the Junior Suites (liek standard hotel rooms).

Oh, musn't forget, a visit to the Spa is a must. Very opulent and well priced too.

The Hotel has motorbikes you can hire by the day - do it!

Hope to get around to posting photos soon.... (have some gorgeous ones)

cant wait to go back!

We stayed 4 nights outta the 8 nights we stayed in Koh Samui at Nora Beach Resort and all I can say is I wish we stayed here the whole time! Nora Beach is luxury and we had the best ever stay there. We just stayed in a Superior suite but it was still good.

The pool is gorgeous! Big enough for everyone to swim in. The bar in the middle of the pool is really cute and convenient.

I have read some reviews that the food is no good including the breakfast but in my opinion the food is great especially the breakfast! The breakfast had a great selection, a lot better than any breakfast ive ever had at a hotel in Australia, and I guess that is what I am use to so the Nora stood out.

The staff were so friendly and really add to the whole experience. Its a really nice and relaxing place to stay and if you have never had a beach style holiday before and haven't really lived it up I would recommend this place to you. If you have lived it up before and stayed at flashy resorts before this place might seem average.

It is far enough away from it all... The private beach section is nice too..
If you wanna get into town just hire a scooter.

Oh and the Spa place there is gorgeous as well.. If you want to spoil yourself I recommend you have a spa and massage there.

All up I loved Koh Samui and I would defiantly stay at Nora Beach Resort again.

Loved Nora- going back again!

We went to the Nora Beach Resort for our honeymoon. From the outset the service was great. The staff are great- they were almost like friends by the time we left. Very helpful and willing to assist.

The location was perfect - we had well researched it beforehand. It was enough out of Chaweng to be private and quiet, but close enough that we could catch the free shuttle down (3 times per day) or hire a motorbike (for about $12 AUS) to go into town when we wanted. It is a 5-10 minute drive.

The beach isn't great (which we were aware of), but the pool more than makes up for it.

On booking we were upgraded from a Garden View Villa to an Ocean View Villa and then when we checked in they upgraded us again to an Ocean View Suite.

Food at the restaurant is reasonably priced (you are in a resort after all). There is free internet access. Rooms are clean and air-conditioning is on on arrival.

The coconut cocktails at the pool bar are amazing (and only 90baht during happy hour). Make sure you have a massage at the Spa before you leave.

Check the prices out online before you book. We found asiarooms.com to have the chapest price and were going to book with them, until the travel agent was able to give us a similar price with some inclusions (free fruit basket, massage etc).
Overall we loved our stay at Nora and plan on returning on an anniversary.

There are better places to stay on ko samui

by TripAdvisor Member IslandcplinAussie

We spent three nights at Nora Beach Resort and found the place lacking in some respects. First, Ko Samui was not our cup of tea: no controls on the developers and the whole place is being overrun with cheap package tours from Europe. The room was fine: clean, well laid out, but the air con was miserable and barely cooled the room at night. The room we were assigned was on a main path, and we asked to change. Management were very helpful and moved us to a lovely location facing a private garden.

The food was particularly disappointing. Breakfast was OK, but nothing more. Lunch was miserable: worst "seafood club sandwich" imaginable: spoiled smoked salmon combined with canned tuna. Hey, there's a whole ocean out there: buy some fish. We walked miles down the beach, cased several resorts, and had dinner at three others. All were nicer, with better trained staff, and fab food.

For the price, the resort is acceptable. Pay a few more bucks and stay in a nicer place.

Can anyone tell me what the Nora Beach resort is like? Anyone stayed there?

I can't find any reviews online as I know it is a new resort...

Looking at staying in March 07.

Thanks in advance.
