Places to visit

by Betsid

Hi
Another quick one, is Koh Tao worth a visit from Samui - we have been to Phangnan and really liked it - although we are not full moon party people - Our preference is more the idyllis beachers, lovely food and nice bars - does Koh Tao have any of that to offer and if so, do you have any recommendations?
Thanks again!
K

Re: Places to visit

by Durfun

Koh Tao is just the sort of place you are seeking. Indeed the collection of islands have each carved out a 'specialist' reputation, with Pha Ngan for half-moon parties, for instance!

Koh Samui is seeked by honeymooners. Koh Tao is similar, although offers further peace and seclusion!!

You've chosen wisely. Go for it :-)

Don't forget the suncreen!

by tere1

Pack light, you don't need much clothes for Samui. During the day a bikini or bathingsuit with a sarong ( if you're a woman) will do. At night you should wear shirts with long sleeves and pants or skirts because of the mosquitos. Flip flops and sandals are the best as it's hot there! Suncreen, with a high protector factor ( the sun burns) , and the usual painkillers, immodium, in case you might need it.

Party at night

by judyksp about Sweet Soul and Green Mango in Chaweng

Sweet Soul is located just opposite the Green Mango. Both Sweet Soul and Green Mango attracts the young crowd. There is always plenty of dancing and latest tecno and hip hop music. Although the cost of the drinks are the most expensive (a vodka bucket in Green Mango costs as much as 600 baht), you will find that these two bars have the biggest concentration of those who love to party.

If you lack a companion, don't worry. You can find any type of companion that you want in these two bars. Since they are located just opposite each other, the most crowded space is the road that seperates the two of them.

Life in these two bars starts typically after midnight and ends at about 2.30am. If you are early, you will not see any action at all. Casual

Tour Bus for Cruise Passengers

by ATXtraveler

The major debate when taking a vacation on a cruise ship is whether you can find your own activities, and risk not making it back to the ship on time, or just taking the organized tour bus, paying a little more, but ensuring you are there to leave (or they wait).

On this occassion, I was fairly happy with our tour. It included bus transfers, a elephant trekking excursion, monkey show, and thai cooking display. In addition it had some time to go enjoy Chaweng Beach Road (or we could have gone to the beach itself).

The bus tour was definitely worth it in Koh Samui, even though taxis are cheap. It was worth it to not have to fight or negotiate price on the taxi, wait in between stops, and we then did not have to pay to get into all the adventure stops.

Lounging and Eating at Starfish & Coffee

by balisunshine about Starfish & Coffee

Starfish & Coffee at the
charming fishing village in Bophut,
is great restaurant for romantic dining
with a vision of the bay viewing Koh Phang-Nga.

The venue also offers a bar to chill out
on one of the many cushions on the floor
or to play pool with Buddha Bar music
in the background.

This Arabesque style restaurant
offers from Chicken, Pork, Beef, Vegetable dishes
and an ample selection of Seafood ranging from
100- 130 Bahts.

There are bungalows also offered
jus in case you decide to
have a little too much wine
from there wine menu.

The beautiful decoration,
and romantic ambiance
make this place a good choice for
dining, chilling or just having a drink.
