Samui Beach Resort

by jrlamour

Has anyone ever stayed there? I'm looking at staying there in December. Is it in a crowded area? I've never been to Thailand and I have no idea whether the pictures they post on their website are accurate.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I went in 2000 and it had been nicknamed Thaibiza... this should give you an indication to how commercialised its become. not a great place to go unless you want a good night life. The 2 other islands a bit further out are quieter, but as a consequence of the full moon parties all the islands on that side are becoming full-on tourist zones. There are much nicer places to visit on the other side of the peninsula. good luck!

Hello,
I haven`t stayed there but it certainly won`t be crowded as you are a fair way away from the action.
This resort is situated in the general area of Hua Thanon which is home to a small muslim fishing community(don`t let that put you off) if you are looking for quiet you have found it,it`s just not close to a lot.

Anything else RE Samui please feel free to email me.

Big party happens only 2 night a month - full moon
party and dark moon party. It doesn't make the island goes
crazy all tha time. There are still a lot of tranquil beach on the island to chill you out.

Ko Samui hotel

by Suzze

Has anybody stayed in the hotel Central Samui Beach Resort in Ko Samui Thailand? I am thinking of booking a holiday there for next year, it looks really nice and it seems central to everything, but you just never know what they are really like until you get there do you! Would love to know what it's like and if there are any better ones? Cheers :-)

Hotels in Ko Samui

by Suzze

Just about to book a hotel in Ko Samui, and can't decide which one out of the three to go for. Wondered if any of you have stayed in the Imperial Boathouse, the Central Samui Beach Resort or the Chaweng Regent ??? Any tips for Suzze??
:-)

Re: Hotels in Ko Samui

Hi Suzze

I have stayed in Central Samui Beach Resort and it is really a great place. As for Chaweng Regent, I have been told by many customers and even their own staff that the price you have to pay is not worth the quality you get for the rooms. It is a very old hotel and they have not upgraded it.

I have not stayed in Imperial Boathouse. But this resort is located in Cheong Mon. Cheong Mon is a rather quiet place especially in the evenings. Travelling to Chaweng for shopping and nightlife can be rather expensive (at least 300 baht one way by taxi).

Hi Suzze,

there is construction work going on next to the Boathouse which has caused some guests concern.

thankyou for your reply i've almost set my heart on the central samui beach resort hotel anyway, so it was good to hear that is a good one to pick!

thanks for your reply, we are not thinking of going until March/April next year anyway but we are more drawn to the Central samui beach resort so that will be the one I think.........

Travel Tips for Ko Samui

Mosquito Repellent

by clouds111

I would bother bring any clothes to dress up in of an evening. Everywhere you go the dress code is relaxed and mainly beachwear especially in the clubs as it gets sweaty! No need to bring many toiletries as there are plenty of shops to buy them from. Suggest Imodium though, although again you can probably get this or some form of it there. Mosquito repellent is a must here. I used the Jungle Formula which worked a treat but I did forget to put it on once and regretted it. I've never seen so many mozzies in my life, particularly around the lake area!!

Sports bar with 25 sq ft screen!

by Willettsworld about Sportsman Inn

The Sportsman's Inn Walk About Pub is Samui's premier sports bar and is located in central Chaweng. It boasts a huge 25 square feet projector screen and 7 smaller TV's spread around the enormous inside bar area, so you are guaranteed never to miss the sport of your choice as each TV is tuned into a different channel. The only thing is, the power kept tripping when I was there (probably due to the number of TV's!) and so you miss what's happening for a while each time!

OPEN ALL NIGHT

by mamasan69 about THE NINJA CREPES

On all of my trips to Samui I have eaten at this restaurant at least once each time, but up until now, had never made a tip for it.
It is a very cheap place to eat and it is just across the street from where I usually stay at Charlies Hut. The place is usually busy during the day, but at night it can be very tough to find a place to sit. Many people come here after the bars have closed for a late night snack or drink.
They offer a great selection of food to chose from, including Thai and Western dishes. The staff are friendly and they offer good service, even when it is busy. If it is too busy for your liking, they also will prepare your food to take-out.
I like this place because it has nice food, but mainly because it is very handy when everything else is closed. Whether it is for a meal, water, or smokes, it is nice to know that you can find it here. On this note, I have never tried their bannana pancakes or crepes, but I have heard from many people that they are wonderful. The dish I like the most from them is the BBQ pork or chicken wings. They hit the spot for a midnight snack or for a light meal during the day. Both of these are priced at about 60-70bht and taste great.

Snake Farm

by JohnandSuzie

Located in the South of Koh Samui travel here by bike or car it is (by car) 20 minutes from Lamai 30 from Chaweng
Enterance fee is minimal...........the exhibits aren't much but the snake, scorpion and centerpede show is fantastic.....................and how often has that bloke been biten.............300+ times. The show is on 2 or 3 times a day.
