We stayed in the Samui Buri Beach Resort. This was excellent choice as it located in Mae Nam which is away from all the crowded and noisy places in the center.
Hotel itself was excellent, service was good, room was large and clean, good TV channels, air-condition work well, beautiful swimming pool with a pool bar, gym, massage on the beach if you wish and most important, hundreds meters of sandy beach to walk on.
For breakfast I could even order tailor made noodle soup just as I love them and I didn’t needed to have the standard breakfast which you get in hotels all over the world.
The hotel had even free car service in the morning to the Fishing Village or downtown (one way) The return is on you own, but easy to take a taxi back at any time.
Near the hotel around Mae Nam were few places where you could go and eat some local food, also some shops and market are nearby.

After booking a 12 night stay at this resort I came across a number of negative 'feedback' stories about the Samui Buri. Stories about bad staff/service, terrible rooms, bad meals/breakfast etc. Needless to say I arrived with some reservations.
During our stay, we only had positive experiences. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us happy. Sometimes there were some language barriers but hey, we're not in Kansas Dorothy. With some goodwill on all sides the message will always get across.
Our room was immaculate and kept that way every day by excellent house staff. Our bedding was turned over at night while we were dining.
Buffet breakfast was as good as we've ever had at many Thai resorts. Plenty of choices including the obligatory 'egg bar' (they cook your eggs just the way you like them).
The location on Mae Nam beach is quiet and idyllic. No waves so perfect for the children. The pool is large and has different areas to suit varying age brackets. No problems with your children.
If there is one bit of criticism I have it is that the pool furniture need updating. Umbrellas are fraying and I can see that during peak periods there is not enough furniture to go around, resulting in people getting up at daybreak to lay claim to a sunlounge.
The resort is placed a little bit further away from the main bunch of resorts and restaurants even though there are plenty of good and inexpensive Thai restaurants just outside the resort entrance.
I suggest you hire a car (around 500 baht)or moped (100-150 baht) to improve independence and see more of Koh Samui. The resort has plenty of parking facilities.
My family and I are glad we went.
Unique Quality: Great views on the beach.
Beautiful pool with pool bar.
Idyllic beach position.
