Hi,
We are living in Samui and we can help you to find accommodation.
We can suggest La Mer Resort at Crystal bay, which is located in a beautiful bay between Lamai and Chaweng. Website: http://www.lamersamuiresort.com/
If you think, we can book this or other accommodation instead of you, since we have small tourist office on the island. Our help is FREE, we offer the accommodation, programs etc. at the same price, what you can find at the websites. If you have more question, send us email: samui_farangs@hotmail.com

If you decide to stay in Crytal Bay, make sure you have some form of transportation. It is in the middle of nowhere - you cannot just walk out of the hotel and hope to find shops for browsing around.

In Chaweng, there are quite a few hotels that can meet your budget. Go to any of these sites to get some prices:

Is the La Mer on the beach? The information on their website appears contradictory regarding this point?

Travel Tips for Ko Samui

Environmentally Friendly Samui Airport

by YaaDong

Frequently described by visitors as 'the most beautiful airport in the world', the award-winning Koh Samui Airport proves that it is possible to be both environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Built using local materials like palm, wood and rattan; the largely open-plan design negates the need for air conditioning.
The airport has 2 terminals (Domestic & International). The International terminal is located about 50 metres north of the domestic. The airport is located near the Big Buddha Pier where ferries to Ko Pha Ngan depart from. High speed ferries to Koh Tao and Chumphon depart from the Maenam beach pier, located approx 6km North west of the airport

There are many airports in picturesque exotic locations around the world, but Samui airport holds the crown as the most beautiful and the best designed in tune with its natural surroundings.

Bike/scooter hire

by Willettsworld

There are plenty of places around the island that hire out bikes and scooters and I hired a little automatic scooter from a place called Bum (I kid you not!) near where I was staying in central Chaweng for 250 baht. It's the best way to get around the island and I spent a day visiting the major sights such as Lamai beach, Hin Ta Hin Yai, the mummified monk, a couple of waterfalls, a couple of the northern beaches and the Big Buddha. Be safe and legal by wearing a crash helmet and take care as the roads are cracked and potholed.

Brazilian

by clouds111 about Zico's

Zico's is a nicely designed modern restaurant and bar with unlimited BBQ and a huge salad bar to choose from, a live band and samba dance shows which were quite entertaining! Each waiter cirlces the restaurant and serves different meats straight from the bbq - so one will come round with the lamb, someone else with the king prawns etc etc. Also serve tasty cocktails. A warning though leave plenty of room in your belly before coming here, otherwise you won't be able to move for a week! ;)

Riding through the trees

by Clarkie_canada

The company is called Canopy Adventures. The gentleman who runs it is called Mike. Basically they strap you into a harness and you ride a cable through the trees. It is extremely exciting boasts the longest cable ride of it's kind anywhere in the world, 127 metres. It is well worth the money, only 1400 baht. Take the jump, you will not be sorry.
