The Unnamed Shop.
by Princess_Emily about Chaweng Beach
This family run convenient store can provide you with all the basic survival items such as Water, Coke, Beer, Pringles, and Handmade Soaps. On the top of my shopping list is mosquito repellent, a definite must have item when staying on the island. Anyone walking via the street to Chaweng from First Beach Bungalow or First House Bungalow must pass by this shop. Handmade Soaps. Depends on how much you buy.
Getting around by motor scooter
by heywinks
Spend a day going around Samui by motor scooter. It`s great fun & you can get a great tan (don`t forget to slather on that sunscreen though as you can burn really fast & not even notice while scootering). 150 baht/24 hrs. Not bad at all. You just have to pay for the gas.
The only thing you have to worry about besides getting hit is that you have to give up your passport as a deposit for the scooter. Most people don`t want their passport out of their reach so if this is not your thing you may want to pass this up. I would risk it though!! :)
There are alot of scooter rental places all along the main thoroughfares around Lamai & Chaweng beaches.

WAT PHRA YAI (BIG BUDDHA TEMPLE)
by MikeAtSea
Located off the northern shore of Ko Samui, on a small rocky island connected to Ko Samui by a causeway, stands the temple of the Big Buddha, or Wat Phra Yai. The temple is a popular site; its 36-foothigh statue provides an impressive silhouette against the sea and sky. Surrounding the Buddha image are kutis or meditation huts.
Although the monks welcome visitors, a sign requests that proper attire be worn on the temple premises.
