Full moon party
by Pomska
I haven't been there but many has recommended it. I've heard that sometimes (or everytime) parties has gone quite wild and crazy.
Full moon party is held in Koh Pha Ngan in Haad Rin beach. It takes about half-hour by boat from Koh Samui.
Ferry to NaThon Pier, Samui
by heywinks
If you are coming from Bangkok by overnight train, get the combo ticket that includes the train ticket, the bus ticket from Surat Thani Station to the pier, & the ferry ticket over to Samui. It saves on so much hassle. When you arrive at Surat Thani you will be bombarded with transportation drivers who want to drive you to the ferry port. You don`t need that at 7am. I had a headache just hearing them scream at the passengers coming off the train. With our combo ticket, we went straight to our bus & avoided all that.
It was a 3 hr ride over Samui from the pier & we were dropped off at NaThon Pier. From there we paid 50 baht/per person to be taken to either Lamai or Chaweng Beach.
The combo ticket was with Thai Railways & Songserm Travel/Express Boat. If you buy just the bus & ferry ticket you have to pay 150baht.
Nice Date Joint
by neurochic about Starfish and Coffee
Starfish and Coffee is a beautiful place to have a candlelit dinner with your honey at night. The restaurant's ambiance cannot be beat. It's colored in rich hues of red and purple and alot of the booths within the restaurant actually have multiple pillows on the floor with low tables and candles everywhere. It almost reminded me of an Indian harem room you would see in a movie. My husband and I decided to have dinner out on the deck overlooking the beach and the views with the moonlight was a really nice place to end the day and be lovey dovey with your beau. The food is a little bit pricey but they do have good stir frys here and they have good dessert. Go to this place more for the ambiance then the food.
Koh Nang Yuan
by jojes
A great daytrip from Koh Samui is a boattrip to Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan.
Koh Nang Yuan are 3 small islands connected by sandy strips. Great views, fantastic marine life so excellent for diving and snorkelling.
