My husband and I stayed here for our wedding, and the resort was mostly occupied by our guests.
The wedding was lovely, but it's not organized by sand sea. They link you up with Big John seafood resort where the wedding was held also. I must say I was most impressed with the team at Big John, very professional and understanding of all our needs.
The positives-
-Great location. 15 mins walk to town centre, lovely beach, not too crowded but lively enough
-Nice pool
-Restaurant serves consistently good food
-Nice cocktails!
Negatives-
-Reception staff- Most of them have limited English and I found them to be unhelpful. One of my guests were told there wasn't a room for her although she had 2 copies of email confirming her booking. They accidentally charged my parents-in law twice for their rooms. I was charged with my parents airport transfer bill after they left although it was later discovered my parents paid and tipped the driver!
-Standard rooms- We stayed in deluxe bungalow which wasn't great but nice enough, however the standard bungalows were cramped and old. The royal suite is not much better than deluxe bungalows, just has a bigger bathtub. The superior rooms offer the best value for money.
-Spa- Double the price of what you can get in town, and not as good.
-Thieves- This was a problem. My brother had 5000 baht stolen from his bag and my aunt's shoes were stolen from the bathroom. I spoke to the manager and she cautioned the maid but nothing was done.
-Drivers- One of the drivers scammed us into paying twice for airport transfer, so never pay the driver directly and keep receipts.
-Laundry service- They charge per item instead of weight, so it gets very expensive.
Overall, we had an enjoyable stay but it was largely due to the location and the merriment of our guests. Although the manager tried her best to solve our problems, in the end the negatives outweigh positives.
On Lamia Beach,
right in front of the sea,
Sand Sea Resort and Spa
gives a variety of choices
between their 45 bungalows
for various budgets.
I first visited the Superior Garden View,
which was very nice.
Ample space, clean white sheets,
firm mattress, A/C, mini-bar,
TV, coffee maker,
a sunken bathtub,
but in this particular bungalow,
the bathroom was a bit dark.
A private terrace is in front.
Prices range from:
2,500 – 2,700 Bahts High Season
1,750 Bahts Low Season
Breakfast included.
I next visited the Deluxe Ocean view,
not to be confused with the
Royal Suite Front Beach.
The bed in this room had a mosquito net,
bed sheets were clean and mattress firm,
th same amenities offered in the Superior
were also here.
Again, in the bathroom was a sunken bathtub
but this one had plenty of natural light.
Prices range from:
3,500- 3,700 Bahts in High Season
2,500 Bahts in Low Season
Breakfast included.
Unique Quality: And finally,
I visited the Standard Garden View Room.
Decorated with quiche, cheap blue curtains,
the space is smaller here.
But the sheets were clean,
mini-bar was available,
and so was an a/c.
But no sunken bathroom here.
Just a shower with no rim,
so count on the floor being wet.
A private smaller terrace is available in front.
I noticed that on the door,
which had an easy break into door lock,
had been tampered with at one time.
Prices range from:
1,460 – 1,550 Bahts in High Season
1,000 Bahts in Low Season
Breakfast included.
In all rooms….
it is requested that
no toilet paper be flushed down the toilet.
Other rooms and prices are:
Royal Suite in front of the beach:
4,500- 4,700 Bahts in High Season
3,000 in Low Season
Standard Ocean View:
1,660-1,750 Bahts High Season
1,200 Bahts Low Season
