Different Poses of Buddha
by ATXtraveler
There seems to be a discrepancy between believers of Buddhism as to whether or not the 7 different poses of Buddha are related to the days of the week, or differing times in his life, but it is definitely that many men and women do worship one of his poses, mainly based on the day of the week that the individual was born.
Sunday is "Seven Days Looking"
Monday is "Pacifying the Relatives"
Tuesday is "Realizing Nirvana"
Wednesday is "begged"
Thursday is "The Meditating Buddha"
Friday is "Contemplating Buddha"
Saturday is "Protected by the Naga King"

Visit Thong-Krut fishing village
by austarman
This little town in Koh Samui's south western corner is a busy little fishing village with boats available to take you from here to Koh Taen, Koh Matsum and Koh Laap as well as various types of fishing expeditions.
There are many great seafood restaurants here along the beach which have some exceptional views of the smaller southern islands and beaches.
The restaurant that I stopped at for lunch at was called the Kung Kaew restaurant and the food and scenery was superb.
Ferry to Surat Thani
by grahamopey
In order to get to Malaysia I took the ferry / bus transfer to Surat Thani for something like 300B, This is excellent value.
I then took the sleeper train to Penang, one point you probably should not though, the train to Penang (via Hat Yai) only arrived at 2.30 a.m. 6 hours after arriving at the train station, I was then awoken by border control at 7.a.m. and spent the rest of the journey bright eyed and bushy tailed until I crashed out in georgetown.
It cost about 1100B (£14 ish) and although I'm glad of the experience I would probably opt for an earler train in a general southbound direction, then catch the malaysia train the next day.
To say I smelt would be an understatement ;-)
Clean Food
by balisunshine about Anywhere with the Clean Food, Good Taste sign
With hygiene in question
and the chicken flu going around,
where to eat may be a concern.
Supposing,
restaurants that carry the sign that says
‘Clean Food, Good Taste’
has passed a hygienic test.
So if you believe in the Thia’s food inspection,
maybe this is a sign you should consider.
If not,
try to see how clean the kitchen is.
Elephant Trek and Show
by Jasen71
I was at a loss on what to do! honestly!! I read about a elephant trek, so I contacted the local tour people and they arranged my pick up and return to the tourist attraction. I was happy with the show and the elephant trek...well I almost got scared going down a step embankment and I was holding on for dear life.. Good Show and Trek well worth the money....
