Amazing Place!

by TripAdvisor Member DianeLondon

Having spent three days in Ho Chi Minh we then ventured onto to spend nine days at the Evason Hideaway, that turned out to be a heavenly experience. Everything about the hideaway is special and every apsect is approached and executed with the guest experience being the only and primary objective. The property consists of a range of villa's that offer an intimate, modern and luxurious experience. The beach is beautiful, complete with water sports and the SPA is world class in treatments, atmosphere and therapist skills. The restaurants offer a wide range of five star traditional Vietnamese and modern European dishes designed by the head chef David, who trained in Paris and it shows. And finally, the service is simply outstanding and the guest service experience extends from the GM, Peter, through to the ground staff and all guest touch points in between. Everyone at the Evason is about guest service and satisfaction and everyone extends themselves to ensure that your stay is very special, and it is.

The Evason Hideaway is an experience to be enjoyed and not to be missed, it is a very special holiday, in a very special place and a trip that will offer you many cherished memories for a very long time.

Wonderful In Every Way

by TripAdvisor Member TEEVEE

We recently had an absolutely fabulous 4 night stay at the Presidential Villa at Evason Hideaway. There were 3 of us traveling and we planned on getting 2 villas, our travel agent secured the Presidential for us for same price as 2 separate villas. What a great choice! This villa complex offered 1 separate building with bed/bath/etc, then a 2nd separate building with bigger bedroom/bathroom - so 3-4 travelers can each have their privacy with own bedroom/bath. Only thing "missing" if you are more than 2 people would be a large seating area inside - it's meant to be the lst building when it's just 2 people I think, but they had made it into a 2nd bedroom for our stay. Villa also featured a covered outdoor eating area, covered outdoor massage pavilion, huge deck & swimming pool. We had absolutely no complaints! Service by our buter, Long, was extraordinary. He was at our beck & call and anticipated needs before we even thought of them! He came by boat every day to take us to breakfast if we didn't want it brought in. The rooms were spotless clean and very nice. If you needed anything - they brought it immediately (including a 3rd lounge for by the pool).
Meals were very, very good. Breakfast buffet was huge and excellent. Dinners were good, BBQ night at pool was really fun.
The spa services were wonderful - both in villa and at spa.
Snorkeling right off our villa deck was amazing - crystal clear water and lots of colored fish.
We toured a beach villa. Very spacious and looked like some daybeds that could be converted to a reg. bed if you had more than 2 people. They were very nice, but did have least amount of privacy as from upstairs you could see down into pool area of villa next door. Most private seemed to be Rock or Hill villas.
But, all villas were very spacious. Spa Suite Villas were away from beach & hill....didn't look to be my first choice.
Our experience was worlds away from Melbourne reviewer below. Doesn't even sound like same place! We would return in a minute and, while by no means an inexpensive stay - we found it wonderful, peaceful, relaxing and a perfect retreat. Nothing else is anywhere nearby. You must arrive by boat, as does anyone/anything else. If you're looking for nightlife, etc. - this is not the place! Our entire trip was expertly arranged by the wonderful Vietnamese-based Luxury Travel Vietnam. Highly recommended!

The best resort in the world!

by TripAdvisor Member Bandares

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. It was the most expensive place we stayed on our trip, so we only stayed one night.

It was amazing value for money! There aren't many hotels you can say that about.

We got upgraded to a hill top villa, which was just spectacular. We had two buildings, our own plunge pool, a complimentary bottle of champagne and total privacy. I felt like celebrity, so special and privileged. Everything in the mini bar was free, which was great. We were so lucky the weather was fabulous the afternoon we arrived so we just sat by our pool and drank wine.

After all the wine, we had a nap, and woke up at about 10:30 in the evening. That was the time when dinner stopped being served. We phoned up though explained our predicament, and they were more than happy to bring us food and wine. Maybe they changed the chef since the earlier reviewers stayed there, because we had an amazingly cooked rack of lamb and a great bottle of wine.

The stereo system was amazing, and there were speakers in each building and you could hear your music outside by the pool too. As we were leaving the next day, we stayed up quite late trying to appreciate everything our personal paradise had to offer. Everything in the rooms was exquisite, even the glasses were a fantastic design. The bathroom was gorgeous as was the day room, and the bed was incredibly comfy.

The next day the weather wasn't so great so we were glad we made the most of the previous day. Everything about this place is amazing. It's expensive, but worth the expense. I would love to go back for longer in the future. It really is a place for couples on a romantic break, some people had children there, but, it didn't really strike me as a kid oriented place.

All the rooms looked amazing, but I was glad we got upgraded to our Hill Top Villa I would recommend trying to get into one of these if you can.

Paradise Found!!!

We have just returned from an eight night stay at this wonderful resort. Our break was planned as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary holiday and we chose this resort mainly because of the reviews on Trip Advisor. We stayed in a Beach Villa which we found the most convenient for all the facilities. The villa itself was outstanding. WOW factor big time!! The attention to detail was outstanding from lovely free toiletries to fragrant sachets for your bed and baskets of fresh fruit delivered daily. Yes it is more expensive than other hotels in Vietnam but certainly cheaper than a comparable resort in Barbados say. Each villa has its own butler who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and stress free. They wave you off on day trips and are there to greet you on your return. They are at your beck and call 24/7 if needed and often come to see you when you are dining at the restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a barbecue at the villa one evening and felt truly spoiled having 2 chefs and a waiter creating a truly memorable evening - just don't eat much before the meal as we lost count after 6 fabulously prepared courses. We would also recommend the sunset cruise complete with canapes and champagne. The weather was great for each day of our stay. Even in the wet seaseon (14th Nov. to 13th Dec. according to our butler) the weather on the island is often better and drier than the mainland. There are 3 main dining options - buffet by the pool, dining in the main restaurant and in villa dining. We tried all 3 and had no complaints. The food was fabulous. All the staff were friendly and responded promptly and efficiently to any request. We even managed to learn a few words of Vietnamese which pleased them. This is a wonderful resort and we left feeling totally relaxed and refreshed after our stay. Older guests or those with mobility problems would be advised to stay in Beach villas 1 to 19 as these were closest to all facilities. Bikes are provided for each villa. We will definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to all our friends and family.

Innovative & Unique In Every Way

by TripAdvisor Member SurferChick

I was overwhelemed with the attention to detail at this resort. It was certainly the most unusual and relaxing place I have ever stayed. It is very eco-friendly. I

would recommend the ROCK VILLA, they were were soo beautiful and Rock Villa 2 is definately a well kept secret. It is probably the most private of rock villas, and they way it has been built is genius! There is a seperate building for the living area, and seperate building for the bedroom area. The pool is a nice size, but best of all is the steps that lead you down to your very own HIDEAWAY. It is like a small cave of your own, that leads you out to the rocks and the sea. FANTASTIC! I think Rock Villa 2 is the only one that has this.

They are very generous with complimetary water, and you get a lovely fruit basket with exotic fruits each day. Breakfast was good - fresh fruit juices galore.

Having seen the other types of villa, I would recommend beach villas for families with young children. The hill villas do offer spectacular views, however, there are lots of steps and lots of insects. The rock villas were fab!

The whole resort, and the staff were amazing. This resort is catered for people that want total relaxation, to get away from it all, and quite literally hide away .. xxxxxx

Does it worth it ?

by TripAdvisor Member Mathosset

The place is really a five star location, villas (Hilltop 5, avoid the 2 because of the noise from the restaurant's air con) are wonderfull. On the negative side, services and food are very far from what we can expect from such an hotel in Vietnam !!! In conclusion, if the location and the villa overpassed our expectations, prices too !!!!!

Does it worth it : yes if your bank account is full and if you are not a fine "gourmet", otherwise be prepared to be disapointed ...

One of life's Great Escapes

by TripAdvisor Member NicksName

This is a fabulous destination to unwind, relax and chill out. It is isolated, so basically you have to be comfortable with making the most of the resort/natural facilities. The food was excellent , decent wine list and our Water Villa (#3) really lovely - probably better than the photos on the website. I should however mention that it is 180 steps (in the heat of the day) to & from the main restaurant, so probably not for everyone. I have more photos of these if you'd like to check them out for yourself. Ate at the Pool (service can be a little trying) and the main restaurant. They have a new F&B Manager (Harinder) who was very helpful, so the service issues may be resolved. Overall we loved it as a location for our anniversary. Went fishing one day which was fun & not expensive. Only caught small fish but they cooked them up for us 3 different ways to have with lunch. I would recommend taking the full board option as it works out to be much less expensive. We would not hesitate to recommend

wow

by TripAdvisor Member cathynsteve

wow!! what can I say this place was out of this world. we stayed here for just two nights in a beach villa. The villa was wonderful big lovely bedroom that look out on to our own pool, brill bathroom and very big, then upstairs was a great living room with fab views across the beach and bay. We were alittle way from the restaurant but you get bikes or you can ring your butler and get them to take you on there little golf buggies. lovely pool area which when we where there was empty as everyone as there own pool. The food was completely fab for breakfast and for dinner. We couldn't believe that a place like this was for real the views and the whole island was amazing.

Can't wait to return

by TripAdvisor Member claassenam

Wow! What a resort. It is in a much more beautiful setting than I imagined. Facing the town of Nha Trang, but far enough away that you feel like you are on a deserted island. The design is so natural to the location that you can barely tell you are at a resort until the boat is within mere yards of the beach. We stayed in Beach Villa 3. It was huge, and although we could occasionally see our neighbors on either side it felt quite private. I liked the location of our beach villa as it was easy walking distance to the main restaurant and also close enough to the activities area, pool and spa. Even at maximum capacity, the entire resort feels quiet, serene and private. You can often be the only people walking along the beach.

The service is excellent. From the moment you arrive into the Nha Trang airport to the moment you leave you are treated like royalty. The manager was there to greet us when we arrived and send us off when we left and also visited with us at dinner. I didn't really know what to expect with the private butler, I've never had one before, and I thought we might be a little overwhelmed. I found the process to be quite fluid and she was there to help when needed and not around when we wanted to be alone. Very helpful indeed.

We only stayed three nights as I thought we might be bored (we are generally more interested in visiting cultural sites than lounging on a beach) but there was much to keep us occupied and you can't help but want more time to enjoy the gorgeous beach, private pool and lovely villa. We spent one day scuba diving, which was excellent, and another day was spent at the excellent (very natural) spa and snorkeling in the local reef which is small but beautiful.

I want to address some of the negative reviews because they really had me worried before we arrived at the resort. It is no doubt an expensive resort! You are paying for that privacy and service. The food is expensive. It is also quite good. If you are worried about paying an average of about $60/night/person for dinner and would stress out over the price of each meal, this place is probably not for you. They mention the average meal prices on the website, by the way. It was a bit of a shock for us after traveling through Vietnam - we laughed that an excellent meal out in Hanoi the evening before was just $5/person! But each dining experience is lovely. I highly recommend the private barbecue dinner at your villa (and on the beach if you are in a beach villa) - it is so gorgeous and pampering and private, and at $95/person it is excellent value. A lot of food, however! I also read that you can get full board, which I would highly recommend as it is probably good value and due to the location it's unlikely you'd leave more then once or twice for another meal in town. We found no reason to leave at all during our stay.

Regarding the complaints of insects, now they make me laugh! The beauty of the resort is its excellent design using the rustic setting, materials, and setting everything as much in the outdoors as possible. No bedroom is completely open to the outdoors and they have air conditioning. The bathrooms are open but they are gorgeous and I can't imagine anything more perfect to the resort than the outdoor shower and bath area (the toilet is more enclosed). You'll probably find a bunch of harmless (and, I thought, cute) geckos running around. The resort "bombs" the bay area each week to prevent mosquitos and I was bitten much less at the resort than at any other location in Vietnam. But if you are really worried they provide bug repellent and mosquito nets and coils in every room. I guess I can see how the really squeamish might be turned off by the fear of moths and geckos in the bathroom at night. If you are, again this resort may not be for you.

In all, I can't wait to return to this or another Evason or Soneva property. I am fascinated by this hotel company - it sounds like they take the matters of the environment very seriously. If you can handle the price without stressing out over it this is an excellent choice for a beach getaway.

Nice hotel - for a night or two

by TripAdvisor Member rmdarnell

OK I am going to start this off with a statement that may help put this in context. I grew up on the beach in QLD, Australia so dazzling me with scenery will only last so long.

We stayed here for one night as part of a Nha Trang visit. The trip to the hotel from town takes about an hour (30 minutes by car and then a short boat trip). The resort is almost camouflaged into the island and looks very impressive. Picture an almost Maldives view with the rock villas on the cliffs.

The welcome is impressive with your own butler welcoming you on arrival. We stayed in a beach villa at the northern end of the island. The villa was impressive with a distinct outside feel even on the inside. I have included some photos which show the master room on the ground floor - with good mosquito nets, which are needed. If you don't like lizards or geckos you may be in trouble as they frequently come under the door.

Upstairs you have a day bed and lounge area. My only problem with this was you can see directly into your neighbors hotel. We literally said hello to some people we came over on the boat with. You have your own private pool which is big enough to splash around in but forget about doing laps.

While their my partner used the spa for a sun treatment which by all accounts was great however don't expect the same prices as in other Vietnam locations for this service. A 60 minute massage will cost you close to $100 USD.

The beach is nice however it is extremely soft and you find yourself up to your knees walking into the water so not many people made use of it.

There are plenty of activities on offer at the resort however this was our final night in Vietnam so we were happy just to relax. We had room service that night as there was a severe thunderstorm. All the foot was wet and or cold in some way as they had to seal it with cling wrap. The lunch at the pool restaurant is nice but was better in Nha Trang.

On the whole I much preferred the Ana Mandara in Nha Trang which you could hideaway at but it still had a sense of community. As we received one night here as a teaser I was expecting to be dazzled but the food and activities were better back in Nha Trang. I would suggest that if you stay here and spend the money - stay in a rock villa, they do look fantastic however for my next visit I will again stay at the Ana Mandara in Nha Trang. And if they offer me the hideaway stay again...thanks but no thanks.

Ko Samui Hotel Choices

by rlipfor

Does anyone know anything about the NAPASI resort in Ko Samui ?It is now owned by Orient express hotel group but used to be owned by PANSEA group. Their web site doesn't have a whole lot.

Any comments on the Evason Hideaway too ??

Re: Ko Samui Hotel Choices

by Travellads

Hi, dont know about the NAPASI but I di visit the Evason Hideway asd I want ed to stay there but it was full when I wanted to be there, (Jan 18th 12 days), it is very much our on a limb in a secluded part of the coast, I was actually very disapointed with the place, it looked tired and the pool are was very strange, saying that it was veery nice but not as good as i had heard. We stayed at the Sala Samui resort and Spa, a sister hotel and this is brand new and just fantastic.

Honeymoon - Krabi or Koh Samui?

by sammy00

Hi. We are going on our honeymoon middle of October and we can't decide between the Rayavadee in Krabi or somewhere on Koh Samui (ie Sila Evason Hideaway or Sala Samui). We haven't been away for a while and are looking for something special. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

I cant tell U about Ko Sanui as i havent been but I have been to Krabi and I thought it was spectacular. I dont think I stayed at the hotel U mentioned but Krabi is a v romantic destination. Firstly you have to get there by boat as there is no harbour, its fantastic wading to shore!

Theres plenty to do such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving and rock climbing. They also do trips out to other islands like Ko Phi Phi and elswhere. Lotsa bars and restaurants there but not over developed. Stunning beaches. Will be relatively quiet in Oct but not sure about the weather as the summer season starts in Nov. I had a fab time there and am desperate to go back.

Dunno if U have been to Thailand before but if not U R in for a treat- one of the best holidays Ive ever had! Happy honeymoon.

Krabi or Koh Samui...

Krabi.

(though the places you mentioned in Samui are good enough, it is the rest of the island that leaves something to be desired)

Thanks boddism and Ian-in-bangkok. Really appreciate your feedback as we were definately leaning towards Krabi and your comments have helped clarify our decision! Ta again, Sammy.

Any suggestions on day trips to the islands from Krabi?
