Motorbike Madness
by biggeorge
The roads in a lot of Koh Samui are like a BMX track so scooters or 4by4's are the best way to get around. There's no helmets ( it's too hot ) and no driving licence requirement so it's a free for all. Its not uncommon to be oevertaken by a couple of girls , one steering and one delicately perched side saddle like the Queen on a horse. There's a great deal of 60mph drunken riding but if you smash it up it doesn't cost much to get them fixed.
Worst when it rains as the potholes fill up with water so you can't tell how deep they are.
Bar Sound
by Designerartgirl about Bar Sound
Soi Green mango is a street full of bars and clubs which are soo good to dance to. None of them want an entrance fee (unles u wanna go to a club where ladies / men are dancing for you).... But there are lots of good looking people, and lots of alcohol if thats what you're looking for... Great night!!
Ends kinda early though, at 1 am! Dress as comfortable....
Koh Samui Tender Ferry
by ATXtraveler
As Sarah and I came into port on the P&O Cruise ship, the captain announced that we would be tendering into the actual landing in Koh Samui. As a veteran of tendering on cruise ships, we made sure to schedule a cruise tour that had the early departure off the ship, so we would get priority.
The ferry tenders would hold about 150 passengers at a time, which was plenty for the old boats on a thirty minute one way trip. People were selling water and drinks for the day on board, but almost everyone on the trip just looked out into the beautiful ocean view, and watched as other fishing boats went off to sea for the day.
There was no cost for this tender ferry, but if you were to need boat transportation to the mainland, it is best to proceed directly to the port.
Central Chaweng Beach
by davidsummers about On the beach near the Ark Bar (may be the Ark Bar)
This restaurant is on the beach and it has got raised kind of hard beds with a table in the middle to eat, drink etc and triangle pillows which are perfect for chillin' out. One bed can fit 4 people on it so its nice and sociable.
You cant miss this group of restaurants because they are covered in fairy lights which do add to the mood of the place.
The food is great and theres lots of choice.
Just watch the little girls trying to sell you a necklace. At first its cute but by the 10th time you start to get a bit un-chilled. My favorite dish is the fried chicken with kashew nut. Its heavenly and i'm trying to find the recipe over here.
Big Buddha
by Icewine
It can be seen from the airport, and from roads around Bophut as you drive around the Island, however it is worth a quick visit, as there are stunning views available from the upper level around the base of the large Buddha. You can also make donations and sign your own private message on bricks which will possibly be used to renovate areas of the Wat.
