Samui
by btkeough about Peninsula Hotel
Just stayed a week there and it's a dog of a hotel.
The sheets are part nylon so you wake up in a sweat.
The toilets backed up twice.......
Never any towels buy the pool.
No newspapers and unable to organise one even if I paid (one availalable in activities room which isn't handy at breakfast).
Staff attention is lacking but friendly... just a case of a very badly managed property and training.
Anyone staying should avoid a "Club House Room" as these have no stand up showers and have no money spent on them since the 1970's. At least they were pleasant when we asked to change rooms.
NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY after looking about we paid US$125.
Cheers
Bryan One of the pools is three joined together which adds good privacy

Hello
Samui Peninsula & Spa is around at Choengmon Beach which is a nice quiet part of Samui.
Copy & paste this link for some reviews but in my opinion if I was paying the prices they are asking I would want better reviews than these.

Thanks Jamie for that info...have just read the reviews and it doesn't sound good does it?? Hopefully all the renovations will be finished by the time we get there..we have actually won a free weeks accommodation there.

If I had won a free week I wouldn`t be at all concerned with those reviews but if you were paying out of your pocket then I would be looking elsewhere.
Good luck & enjoy

Hi
We are off to samui in the next few weeks, I also struggled with accomodation. We have decided upon the chabba cabana beash resort on chewang it seems to have had really good reviews and comes in at a reasonable price. Ive not arrived there yet so i'm hoping that all the reviews on the place are true :)

Central Samui Village is situated between Hua Thanon & Laem Set.The one on Chaweng Beach is Central Samui Beach Resort, both nice resorts under the same ownership

Thanks storm808, hiwayepay & jamiesamui :-)
Glad that I had those info, at least it can help me to decice better.
But compare Chaweng & Lamai which one is better? Does Chaweng goods for kids?
Is there many plane operator that fly to Samui from nearest city that I can choose to?
Thanks again!
Re: Trip to Ko Samui

I think either place is fine with kids especially if you decided to stay just a little away from the centre of both places.
I like the southern end of Chaweng. It`s quieter than the main part of Chaweng, has less people & in my opinion the best all round beach conditions on Samui but Lamai also has a very nice beach.
Chaweng has more for your kids in the way of bowling centre, mini golf etc but these are easily accessible if you stay around at Lamai.
Bangkok Air is the only airline that flys direct to Samui from Bangkok & seeing they own the airport they have a monoply & the fares tend to be expensive.
Berjaya Air fly to direct to Samui from KL twice a week
Hope this helps
