june weather

by saraton

Hi can anyone help please we are traveling to ko samui in june 2011, we have had very mixed reviews on the weather, some say only 4 hours of sunshine some say alot of rain, can anyone help to confirm or give us a more accurate weather conditions, thankyou :)

I would like to congratulate you on asking a silly question.

No one can give you a "more accurate" weather condition - people are:

1. Relaying what they experienced; or

2. Looking at climate / weather history.

Neither source can predict what you could expect to expect 7 months from now.

Hi, when I worked there in 2002 and 2003 June had a good weather. The good weather lasted till October. Avoid November to February its normally wet during that time.

Hi

For a start it`s not a silly question although it is a question where one is unable to give an exact answer.

Normally June is ok, plenty of sun, pretty hot & rain is mostly restricted to thunderstorms which can last varying times.

It is safe to say you will see rain in June how much is anybodies guess but you will have more than enough good weather for you to enjoy all that Samui has to offer.

Hope this helps

Jamie

It's monsoon time in June, so yes lots of rain with a few hours of good sunshine in the morning. It usually starts to rain around noon and goes for a few hours. It's still a beautiful time to visit Thailand but it's better to visit the north during this time.

Re: june weather

Sorry but that reply is wrong, June is not "monsoon" period for The Gulf of Thailand. It is however "monsoon period for the Andaman Seaside.

June is definitely not the monsoon season in Koh Samui. November/December is the monsoon season. Typically June is still hot with occassional showers that lasts a few minutes.

But as to accurate weather conditions, guess it is not possible anymore these days. As an example, 2005 monsoon was terrible but in the years 2008 and 2009, there was hardly any monsoon. Then this year, we had a very bad monsoon again.

Still Samui is a great place to visit - rain or not.

Travel Tips for Ko Samui

Hi there

It is hard to say whether September is good or bad. I have been staying in Samui for three years (since March 2005) and I have seen one bad September and two good ones. The worst time of the year is November but November 2006 was truly an angel - it hardly rained at all.

Typically September is occassional rain but these days, it is truly hard to predict. Like recently - with the cyclone in Burma, we had bad rains in almost all of Thailand - which is not a norm.

Damn Mossies!!!!!!!!!!

by davidsummers

Buy any ruck sacks out in Bangkok or Koh Samui and then pack them with all the t-shirts you have bought. Buy all your t-shirts in Bangkok or Koh Samui. Guys - dont take any t-shirts with you. Just buy what you want out there because its so cheap. I also bought a pair of Deisel trainers for £5. Bargain!!!!! DO NOT forget your mossie spray. Just a quick tip. Try to buy the pump action spray as opposed to the aerosol because the latter seems to go everywhere in the room and not on your skin. Dont get bitten. I didnt but my wife did and it looked painful. Memory card for your Digital Camera. You dont need a massive memory card. All you need to do when the memory is full is find an internet shop who will download your pictures onto a CD Rom. This will cost you 200 baht. Clear your memory card and start snapping again.

Reggae Bar

by Designerartgirl about Reggae Bar

This place when i went to koh samui the second time was where all the "action" of the island seemed to be. My friend and i had rented a motorbike so we kept checking all around to make sure we'd found the best spot. The band which was on after 11, had a number of band members including a male and female singer who alternated depending on the song. It made sure that the place was full of people, and that everyone was dancing.. None aparent, but most tended to dress up a little bit.

Cheap Alternatives

by jamiesamui about Restaurants in Laem Din

I can` t recommend any one particular restaurant. Laem din is along the second road some call it soi Reggae it is along the same road as the Reggae pub and the Muay thai stadium. This area is the area that a lot of the local thai people frequent to eat , i`ll give you a quick example of the pricing. If your eating a standard fried rice dish along Chaweng not in a flash restaurant ,you will pay approx70 THB the same dish along the Laem Din area is 30THB. There is also an open air food court with lots of street vendors,I hear you say i`m not eating off the street but I went there with an expat who lives on Samui and my Thai girlfriend and if there prepared to eat there that will do me. Every thing I have had has been nice and especially cheap which is handy towards the end of your holiday when the budget starts to get a bit tight.
