Proper Buddhist Temple Etiquette
by iNorv9
While many tourists often regard Buddhist temples as great photo opportunities, many also fail to properly respect them as places of worship. Here are a few basic tips for proper temple etiquette:
1) Dress properly. Clothing (for both men and women) should cover the shoulders and knees. This means no tank-tops or short skirts. T-shirts should be fine. Occaisionally some well visited sites have "cover clothing" for rent.
2) Always remove your shoes before entering the temples.
3) The feet are considered the 'lowest' part of the body, so avoid pointing them towards other people and especially any altars or Buddha images
4) Women should never touch monks! Do not even hand out something to them directly. Just use an intermediary, or place an item on a table.
By following these simple guidelines you'll still be able to appreciate the beauty of Thailand's temples, and now the local worshipers will appreciate you right back.

...wouldn't it be a shame to miss out on a dip in the beautiful turquoise water of the lagoon? It's such a great feeling after all the sweating and adrenaline rushes to just get rid of your dirty clothes and jump in the water...

Beautiful views of the river delta

If you take a songthaw or motorcycle taxi out to the Maritime resort about 2km north of the town (see Hotel tips) then you can ascend to the eighth floor of the large hotel where they have a conference room.
The views from the walkway and conference room (if it's not in use) are impressive - they face out towards the sea overlooking the Krabi river delta with the Limestone karsts dotted about.
It reminded me a great deal of the landscapes around Gullin in Southern China.
Thai cooking class

Enjoy Thai food? Like to know more about it? Join a half day thai cooking class then!
There are many such cooking schools in Krabi. some hotels also offer such courses too. For me, I've joined a half day thai cooking course by Siam Cuisine. The course, costing $1,200 baht per person, includes: An english speaking instructor, introduction to basic ingredients in Thai cooking, all the ingredients and utensils required in the cooking and 6 thai dishes of your choice from a list of menus.
The school starts even if there's only one student for that day. The day I went, there's only me and another lady from Norway. So, we have the fullest attention from our instructior! :D
The cooking class was fun. I get to prepare all the ingredients for my dishes, cook them under the instructor's guidance and of course, get to eat my own cooking after that! My Phat Thai was delicious, just that I did not add enough lime. Hee!
By the end of the class, each of us will still be given a recipe book to bring home for reference!
After the course, I think Thai cooking can be made easy too. The most difficult part for me, is how to get Thai ingredients in GZ! Ha!
