Jungle-like tiny villas set in scenic surrounding

    by

The front desk staff and house-keeping staff have great attitudes with service that is excellent. However, because of the language barrier, their English tends to be very basic, sometimes, what we want or ask for may be lost in translation.

This 2 star resort rating should be upgraded to a 3-star one just because of its great staff.

Unique Quality: Great view from the pool of a hill. Although the pool was very small, it was sufficient. Located at beginning of Ao Nang Village and quite accessible to rest of Ao Nang, where shops and eateries are. A bit far from the beach.

However, be warned that there are a lot of mosquitoes in the rooms and surrounding areas of the resort as the resort is set in lush tropical, almost jungle-like greenery... nothing is usually done about it. As I already knew this from a review I read on Asia-rooms, I went with mosquito repellant, both for applying on skin and the electric ones for the room. Still had mosquitoes in the room and suffered from bites. Got gradually better as days went by (perhaps I got used to it), as we managed to get skilful at clapping our hands to irradicate them.

lovely people

by TripAdvisor Member AmsterdamMichel

We have been regular guests since the first year that Ao Nang Paradise Resort opened, since 1998 i think. We have been returning many times, because of the beauty of the garden, the very friendly people and the comfort of the rooms

I recommand this resort to anyone who want to enjoy Ao Nang and i regret the hospitality of the staff and the owners, now we found our own long stay place at Klong Muang beach since a couple of years

Lovely place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member rumswizzle

We stayed here for nine days in January and were vey impressed. The resort is nicely set out in a tropical garden setting and even though it's just off the main road, it's peaceful and quiet. We found the staff always friendly efficient and helpful. The chalet itself was a little small but sufficient for our needs, although we could have done with more cupboards or drawers. The pool too is a little on the small side but it's very nice and to be fair we never saw it crowded. It's a nice setting at night, too, with the lighting from the pool bar helping to create a lovely atmosphere. Our stay included breakfast and again we were impressed with a selection of Thai and Western dishes and a different menu every day. Overall we'd give the Ao Nang Paradise Resort top marks for value for money. and if we're in this part of the world again, we'd definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel

by TripAdvisor Member GillycatBedford

We stayed for two nights in July, booked through Octopus travel and got what we thought was an excellent deal. There are different types of rooms so I'm not sure what category ours fell into but it was clean and beautiful with a minibar, safe and tea/coffee making facilities. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. Ao Nang is about 20-30 mins away from Krabi itself, and seems to have sprung up around tourism. It has loads of hotels and restaurants, including MacDonalds and Starbucks, so we weren't expecting too much from it, but actually really liked the feel of it and found this hotel to be a lovely place to stay.

What we liked:
- beautiful grounds of the resort - it's quite small, but all the rooms feel very private and the trees and plants are really lovely and it's all very tranquil
- nice swimming pool
- tasty and good value food in the restaurant - and lovely staff
- friendly helpful staff generally
- good kettle in the room (great for making tea!)

Tip for getting there: you can get a bus from the airport for 150 baht which will drop you right at the door.

We booked a trip to James Bond Island through the hotel and were not overly impressed, so it might be worth shopping around and speaking to various operators to see if any are better. The trip company was not linked to the hotel in any way, it was one of a selection of leaflets they had and they were kind enough to call for us, so we could have easily examined some other options first.

Amazing place!

by TripAdvisor Member ozteam888

What an AMAZING place, we stayed 6 nights in one of the 6 new honeymoon suites at the back of the hotel. A huge 4 star 45 sq room with king bed, large robe, laptop size safe and BIG fridge! Their was a lounge and LCD TV and DVD. The front deck looked out over a pond to the mountains. Very quite, NO road noice at all. The people are helpful and the food excellent plus the best freshly made coffee in Krabi, guaranteed! The only negative was no english move channels so buy some DVD's but they did have sports & CNN and the australian Channel too! We then had 6 nights in the 5 star over the road and wished we hadnt moved!

'Paradise' spoilt by building work

by TripAdvisor Member ItchyFeeet

2 friends and myself stayed at this hotel for 11 nights in mid September. Location is fine on the main road in Ao Nang down to the beach with endless restaurants, shops and tour guides all around. Staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful and we organised a couple of trips here. The resort was clean both in the bedrooms and common areas. Breakfast was nice with a decent range for international and local guests.

The one downside was the building work going on at the hotel. Yes, it is out of season so now is probably the best time to get it done but maybe the resort could have closed for a short time to get it done more quickly. From very early in the morning there was drilling and banging directly outside occupied bedrooms, and there was pieces of wood and plaster all over the pathways. Also, there was a construction being put up near to the pool area, which made relaxing by the pool very difficult. At one point, one of the workers was doing some welding work and sparks were flying on to the loungers, and hitting & burning some of the guests. They didn't even get an apology, the workers just carried on until guests moved from their loungers.

I guess when the work is complete it wil be a paradise once again with the very picturesque cliff backdrop to the resort but until then, it seems more of a building site then a place for relaxation.

Paradise, It will be one day, but not yet.

My Wife and I have just got back after an 8 night stay, 7-15 Nov.
When we first arrived we were taken to a room, G3 I think, It was small, dingy and had paint peeling off the wall, If you wanted to use the toilet after showering you were going to get wet feet. We were quite tired from travelling and sat down, made a cup of tea and considered our options. We were close to walking away and losing our deposit, so we went back to reception and told them we were'nt prepared to stay in that room, they then showed us another room, A3, you would'nt believe the difference, It was bright, pleasant and clean, both of these rooms were suposed to be 'superior rooms', so we settled in for a quiet relaxing holiday.....NOT.
The hotel was clearly not ready for high season.
The grounds were undergoing a lot of serious maintenance work, they had been allowed to become overgrown during the low season and were now being brought back up to standard, the groundsmen were working very hard on this.
Some rooms were still being decorated so the smell of paint and varnish floated in the air.
At the pool a new bar was being built the steel frame was up and the roof and floor were in, but all the finishing work was going on, wall cladding, lighting, signs, bar, etc, with lots of banging cutting, drilling and screwing going on.
Not very relaxing.
The bar was virtually finished as we left so things will get better, BUT.
Next door is a large building site, the steel frame was still being worked on with cutting and welding, bricklayers were infilling between the columns.
To the rear, behind the pool bar was another building site with similar work going on.
I work in the building trade and in my opinion this work will be going on for at least another 3-4 months, so if you like knocking and banging this is the place for you.
To sum up.
Paradise...it will be one day, the setting is very nice, the pool likewise, especially with the backdrop of the cliffs.
The staff are very pleasant (they get paid to be like that) as are all Thai's
Would we go again? probably not, but we dont often go back, we like to try somewhere new every holiday.
Would we reccomend it to a friend? yes with the warning to check very carefully whether all the local building work was finished.

Great cosy place

by TripAdvisor Member Gogi_Iimb

We had the option of splurging on luxurious resorts in Krabi such as - Sofitel, Amari Vogue, Centara, etc. But we read several positive reviews about Aonang Paradise and the pictures on the hotel website and decided to give it a try. And we did not regret it for an instant!! Am trying to give objective, unbiased information below, to help you guys take a call!

Positives - reasonably close to the Aonang beach promenade yet away from the madding crowds, cosy setting for cottages amidst bamboo and lush greenery, clean and functional rooms, room service, safe deposit box, swimming pool, rents own bikes, booking package tours, extremely friendly staff

Drawbacks - Not a place where you can wallow in luxury, facilities are functional but not extravagant, no bathtub, not fluent in english but they try and make up for it with their efforts and cheerfulness

Chilling out in Krabi

"Aonang Paradise Resort"

We stayed here for 4 days. Cleanliness is so so and on third day, toilet bowl has flushing problems. Room has mosquitoes, but think it's an island wide problem. There's some mosquitoes in shops and cafes too. Breakfast is basic buffet with toast, fruits, pad thai (qt good), fried rice, bacon and unlimited eggs of your choice.

If I go back there again, will try heritage hotel, some rooms has sea and cliff view, they offered us 1100 baht for 2 persons with set breakfast. clean spacious rooms.

"Phi Phi Island trip"

Snorkel is good fun, limited fish range compared to Cairns Great Barrier Reef. Corals not as colorful but the experience and the view of islands compensate for it. James Bond island is beautiful.

"Thai food and massage"

Thai massage costs 250 to 300 baht per hour. If you go during off peak, negotiate prices. Try this shop call Original Thai massage or Photivate, it's somewhere opposite Macdonalds.

Street vendors sell fried chicken rice, soup noodles, very tasty and tender chicken. Pad thai is yummy.

"7-11 24hr Store"

Check out snacks in 7-11 store, rates are cheaper than local supermarkets. They have different flavors of potato chips from the regular potato chips we get elsewhere, including seafood mayonnaise, seaweed.

"Krabi Town night market"

Street vendors sell mostly food, not so much clothes. There's an emporium for ladies wanting to get lingerie and Boots pharmacy on 1st floor of emporium, value for money wide variety of toiletries.

AoNang Paradise Resort - (Krabi airport to hotel)

by CurryQueen

Hey all
We've just booked to stay at AoNang Paradise Resorts for 3 days next week.
The address is 25/18 Moo 2 | Aonang Muang, Krabi 81000, Thailand.

The hotel's pick up service cost THB600 but it sounds a bit too much for 40mins journey considering we paid THB300 in Bangkok from airport to hotel for about same distance.

Are there many meter taxis outside Krabi airport like in Bangkok or not? Or is THB600 a fair deal?

Many thanks!

by johnaalex

Taxis and tuk-tuks are more expensive in the resort areas, they maybe meter taxis but they will only charge fixed rates. For example on Phuket the charge from the airport to Patong which is a 30 minute drive is 600THB.

John

I agree. It is more expensive and but that is about the price we paid.

Hi
There is an airport Bus serving Ao Nang for about 150TBH each it drops off outside the major resorts. Check out the bus counter in arrivals. You may have to wait until it fills up but you may find a large number of people from your flight going to Ao Nang. We are also going to Krabi in the summer and plan to use this service.

As donna12 posted, Krabi Airport offers a regular bus service (white buses as you exit the aiport's terminal to the right but you purchase the ticket at the offices after baggage claim), charging 150bahts/person to get to Ao Nang and 90bahts for Krabi-town which they drop off first before continuing on to Ao Nang. It takes about 20 minutes to get from the airport to Krabi-town and another 20 minutes to one end of Ao Nang and they drop off at various points. The ticket seller or bus driver will also ask you when you buy the bus ticket where you want to get dropped off so they'll know which resorts to 'drop' passengers off at.
If it's more than 3 travelers, then it's more practical to just share the taxi all the way from the airport into Ao Nang since it'll be much faster.
