Hi,
I will be travelling to Thailand in April 2011 and planning to spend a total of 7 days between Rai Leh on Krabi coast and Phi Phi Don Island. I have been consulting Ferry transportation between Rai Leh and Phi Phi Don and all that I found is a ferry that depart every morning from Rai Leh to Phi Phi Don at 09:00 AM.
However I need transportation in late afternoon, but can't seem to find anything. Are there Boat taxis that can transport Us? Is there any other way to go to Phi Phi Don in late afternoon? What is the price?

If I remember well from Krabi there was a ferry to PhiPhi also at 3pm, the cost? not very much and pick-up from hotel is included.
btw there must be a small tax to be paid on arrival at PhiPhi since last year.
I enjoy the bargaining and island hopping.
Temperature in Krabi range between 16 to 37 degrees Celsius.
The best time to visit Krabi is off peak season.
Rainy season(Off peak): May - November, you can get great bargains on hotels from early May.
Peak season is from : December - April Bring sunscreen or suntan and drink plenty of water. Try the local food here. My favourite is papaya salad. Yummy.
It is a breeding area for marine life - baby seahorse, large, marine pond of garoupa fish, etc... quite interesting for my little tike who loves looking at marine life and fish. You really do get to see the clown fish in a tank. It is near the gastropod fossils at the end of Nammao Bay. If you are unable to snorkle, this would be quite interesting (of course the experience is not the same).
You can get ferry from Ao nang Bay or railey Bay to Ton Sai Bay of Phi Phi Don. In high season, there is ferry to Lanta as well.
One daily ferry from Ao Nang Beach via Railey Bay to Phi Phi (9am) for 390 Baht, including the hotel pick up. Two daily ferry from Phi Phi to Krabi (9am and 2pm) or to Ao Nang Bay (3:30pm) is 350 baht. The boat ride is about 2 hours.
Two daily ferries from Phi Phi to Phuket is also 350 Baht for a 2 hour boat ride.
There are 3 Elephant trekking operator in Krabi. I picked Nosey Parker's coz that's the one the tour agent suggested.
They have half day program and 2-3 hours program, we took the later one.
Hop on to an elephant's back and enjoy an hour trek around the rubber plantation.
Feed the elephants, watch then bathe and don't miss the cute baby elephant!
Strictly speaking Wat Bang Riang is not in the Krabi Province. It is located in the Phang-Nga Province but there were no pages for Phang-Nga on VT and if you are in the area you would probably be staying in or near Krabi anyway.
The temple was built atop a 450 meter mountain and the vistas of the jagged limestone mountains from atop the temple are incredible. We just don't have mountains like this in North America.
