Krabi End 0ctober - Beginning November weather??
by michellwyse
Hi,
I am looking to come to thailand at the end of october and was thinking of coming to Krabi. Will the weather be nice and if not which other islands are good to go to which will have nice weather...The internet says so many contrasting things about the weather its become too confusing...
I have only got about a week on an island and do not want the weather to be overcast and rainy the whole time.
If anyone has been at this time of year and could let me know what to expect then that would be great and also nice places to stay.
Best,
Michelle

You are taking a gamble coming to Thailand any time of year. I was in Krabi last December, which is supposed to be the time of year where it magically never rains according to the guide books, and it rained almost every day... My first trip to Thailand i went in May and Jun, the dead center of the torrential, constant downpours (again according to the books) and I don't remember a single time that my plans were thwarted by rain.
The weather in unpredictable, take a gamble... you kind of have to.
Travel Tips for Krabi
Diving
by Sambawalk
There are many dive sites around Krabi area. There are local water or diving in Phi Phi islands. I chose to dive in Phi Phi islands when I was there. Prices in Krabi to dive sites are quite expensive. The locla water dives are 2,200 bahts for 2 dives and to Phi Phi islands 2,900 bahts for 2 dives. Equipments are 700 baht extra. If you do 3 dives from Krabi, it will cost 3,900 bahts plus equipment. In my opinion, expensive.
In addition, although there few dive shops in town, all prices all standardised and the same. I found out that all dives shops have agreement to maintain the same prices. So it is cartel operation.
I stayed in Krabi Seaview Resort and it has its own dive shop:

Other dive shops that you can check out as follows:

Airport Taxi Service
by bladedragon
Coming out from airport arrival gate (1st level) the taxi counter will be on your right.
They have a price list for destinations of service, for example from Airport to Ao Nang beach will be 600 Baht.
Other alternatives:
1. You can contact your hotel to arrange a transport to or from hotel.
2. You can contact some travel agency to arrange your transport.
Tanta Restaurant
by Cathy&Gary about Tanta Restaurant
Tanta Restaurant is nearly opposite Bernies Place. They have a huge menu with so many different varieties of food.
There is Thai, Italian, European, wood fired pizza, fresh seafood, actually anything you can think of is here!
We ordered chicken satay's and tempura squid for starters, then I decided it was about time I had a lobster.
You choose the one you want from their tanks.
It was cooked with garlic and butter and was so tasty. Gary ordered a mussaman curry, which I also tasted and it was delicious
Our bill with a couple of alcohol drinks each came to 1870baht, so very reasonable considering the price of the lobster.
Go visit the nearby small island by long boat
by jacquitabanana
We (myself and a group of Aussies, asked one of the guys at the beach to bring us to nearby island, in his boat and hang around for us too at each. He was more than happy to do it, as what was a few euro each for us was like a weeks earnings for him, maybe more. was great to see him so happy when we paid him with a tip.
We went to Poda Island, Chicken Island and Tup Island which has a mad real long sand bar which makes people look like they are walking on water to another part of island.
It was great fun.
Hot Shower Waterfall's
by Cathy&Gary
The hot shower waterfalls (Namtok Ron Khlong Thom) are not far from the Emerald pool.
Just follow the directions for the Emerald Pool and you will see the signposts for the Hot Shower Waterfalls.
Entry fee here is now 90baht.
It’s only a 200 metre walk along a lovely boardwalk through the jungle, watch up for snakes though, we came across one sun baking on the boardwalk.
The hot shower waterfall has a temperature of 40-50 degrees Celsius and the water falls down into the cool stream.
It can be a little bit tricky getting in here, so I just climbed over the little pontoon into the cool stream and swam over to the hot waterfall.
It was lovely and we will go back again but no comparison to the hot springs at Ranong.
Once again there are toilets and restaurants near the car parking area.
