Is it true that Krabi beaches (and other islands) are full of jellyfish?:-((
I red this from the peoples that were been there, and I'm very indecided to stop there in november.

There are jellyfish at various times of the year but the beaches certainly are not "full" of jellyfish: it shouldn't stop you going and having a great time on the beaches and in the water.

Shoals of jellyfish can crop up almost anywhere at any time, a combination of environment, weather, wind and tides. they are not a permanent feature of the Krabi area. I've spent a total of about 10 months in the Krabi area over the last three years and only seen any jellyfish once and that was a a couple of months ago when we went through a big shoal of them on the Krabi - Lanta ferry. There were reports of lots of jellyfish in the area around about that time. Thousands of people have had great holidays in the area then and since without the jellyfish affecting them.

By November the west Monsoon will have ended and the weather will have switched to coming from the east so if the current tides and winds have been sweeping them towards the beaches, then at that time it will be taking them away from the beaches

Pointless, even in thinking about. Going to Thailand and worrying about poisonous jellyfish is like going to Britain and worrying about Mad Cow disease.
For those concerned about encountering any dangerous animals on their trip to Thailand, or any other country in the area, number one thought always should be in concern to the most dangerous animal of all – the mosquito.

Jellyfish are as indigenous to Thailand’s islands as rabbits are to English farms. Just gotta accept they are there. Take a chill pill and forget that they are even there.

Travel Tips for Krabi

Sunsets in paradise

by danielinnz

I haven't found a better place yet to take in the sunsets at Ao Nang beach than the Last Fisherman Bar. Pull up a chair right on the edge of the beach, dig your toes into the sand, order your cocktail and watch the sun sink into the Andaman sea......
You can find the bar by walking down the beachfront lane past Ao nang Villa and Golden Beach Resort until you come to a fence with a wooden doorframe. Walk through and the bar is right there.

Along the cliff base towards Hat Tham Pra Nang from Railey East is a little hut/shelter and opposite is a very daunting looking wall of mud, rock, vines and ropes. It leades to an amazing viewpoint but the walk is hard and trecherous if wet. My clohtes got totally ruined from the reddy brown mud. I wouldnt advise going alone as it can be slippery and there's not a lot to stop you falling over the edge!

Great chilled out seafood bar!

by Patszac about Coconut

Coconut bar is situated at the back of Railay - on the east railay beach. It offers the cheap BBQ seafood for everyone though. Try various kind of grill seafoods, it will get your energy back! The price range depends on the weight of them from 50 - 400 Baht! I love grilled shell and grilled barracuda!

Krabi - Ao Nang

Beautiful white beaches, not very crowded...Islands close to Ao Nang are also very beutiful. Life is very different from Phi Phi Island....Ao Nang is much more quiet...Easy to find a Place to stay...I booked a double room (500 Bht per night - around 10 euros) but you can spend even less...
