Re: Cave

by starstar11

There is a place in Krabi - Railey Bay 15 min boat ride from mainland it's not exactly a cave it's Called the lagoon. You climb a rocky/jungly mountain for about 30 mins once u have reached the top you start decending / absailing with ropes that have been permenatly put there. quite difficult ( if it was in aus u would definatly need safetly climbing equipment due to safety aspects but hey Thailand's a hell of a lot different. Once you are down ,there is a crystal clear lagoon it is amazing -rock faces the whole way round ( as if u were in the middle of a circle ) the only light u can see is coming from above. Not sure how old u are but we went with our tour group and 10 started and only 4 of us finished and we were all under 30. As i said before it is quite dangerous but if ur a thrill seeker u will love it

Travel Tips for Krabi

Neanderthal Traffic Lights!

by Willettsworld

These weird Neanderthal figures sit on top of columns that house traffic lights at a junction in the town centre near the shopping mall and market. They seem to be lifting the lights which look like they're made to look like they're encased in rock which is all a bit strange and I've no idea what it's all about!

Snorkelling

by leffe3

Go on organised boat trip to Bamboo Island - the only way to get there. The trip offers the opportunity of great snorkelling, lunch and time for yourself on this totally deserted island before heading back to Ao Nang via Chicken Island (more snorkelling) and Poda.

If you arrange in advance, you can stay on Bamboo Island. The trip above will take you out one day and bring you back the next. Note it has no facilities - lunch provided as part of the trip is bought with the boat.

Must Try

by touraco about Dean's Restaurant

We tried this on the last day of our trip and realised why we did not try this earlier???

The food was in big portion and tasted so much better than Ao Nang Cuisine.

They served Swedish and European food as well.

We ordered Tom Yum Goong, Egg Omelette, Stir-fried vegetables, some chicken dish, 2 fried rice and a fried noodle and drinks and costed us around 500 baht as well.

The tom yum goong was good.

Take the ferry and stay at Rae Leh

by cybergenic

: Krabi itself is boring. Go to Rai Leh.
Walk around the island of Rai Leh, it's beautiful. Around the expensive resort side there is a nice beach. At the very left of the beach there are some caves. At high tide you have to swim to the caves. I think it is possible to walk at low tide. There are some ladders going into the caves which you can climb if you are feeling adventurous.
I am an amatuer climber too, but they had me climbing to the top of a very high cliff after 1 hour. Its cool...you will see. I used Cliffs Man climbing. They were very freindly. Take your snacks from Krabi because they seem to charge a lot more for things like this on Rai Leh. i.e - Pringles, chocolates, alcohol.

Khao Khanap Nam

by Willettsworld

These two hills, roughly 100 meters high, flank the Krabi River running between them to form a distinctive vista and the town's most prominent landmark. They are accessible within 15 minutes by long-tail boat from Chao Fa Pier. Apart from admiring these hills from the boat and visiting the local mangrove forests, Khao Khanap Nam has a beautiful cave with amazing stalagmites worth exploring. A large number of human skeletons have been found here and it's thought that they were those who came and established a home at Khanap Nam, but were cut off by an inundation of water and quickly perished.
