Driving in Thailand
by bulldogtwo
es, as Grace said, you can rent a motorbike for a few $$ but it really depends also on how far you wnat to travel, your skill level in traffic to and from. Your destination is NOT just around the corner, I think it is a good distance to travel, easily doable, just keep in mind the distance, and I think there is currently contruction going on in between but it is not bad and traffic does flow decently.
White sands

Take a boat over to the privately owned Kho Poda - 30 minutes from Ao Nang. Not exactly deserted, but with limited facilities (one cafe) its not exactly crowded with people - and the beach is a dream.
Ouch, that was good!
by travelagent4thailand about THE CLIFFrestaurant
The place is at THE CLIFF restaurant at THE CLIFF boutique hotel.
The Cliff offers more than just the set menu, but the art of culinary and presentation is a theatherical experience in itself.
The restaurant also has a mini espresso machine that hums like a hulk and try the extra dose of coffee latte....hmmmmm! The eggs benedict - savory, semi mustard sauce atop hot bagel like toasted bread with bacon and ham! That was the work...
Order a hot latte or orange juice to go with it and you're set for a power day of excursion.
IF YOU ARE LUCKY, in the evenings you may also get a taste of the groupa fish that the owner offers to his special guests - try the raw with wasabi, sure to take your nose for a good spin and a dash of clicks to you palate
- ouch that was good!
Hat Noppharat Thara Beach
by vigi
Located within 18 km west of Krabi town and just next to Ao Nang Beach, this quiet beach lies within the Hat Noppharat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park and features a 3 kilometre long sandy stretch lined by casuarina trees. The water was warm and clean, with smooth yellowish colored sand, A lovely place to laze in te sun and hang out for an afternoon. Got natural shade provided by the trees. You won't find miles of deckchairs and beach umbrellas, so buy a beach mat.
Kayaking Ao Thalane
by Waxbag
We took a long tail boat to Ao Nang then a truck to Ao Thalane where we began our trip. Each couple had a kayak and the guide had a single kayak. We paddled out to sea then around and through limestone formations. We paddled through mangrove forests into four different lagoons. We saw many fish, birds, and monkeys. The sound of the insects came in deafening waves. The cloudy, rainy skies cleared up to reveal the sun?s powerful rays which glistened on the water and peeked through the trees. We stopped for a fruit snack around noon and had to fight the monkeys to keep our goods. They jumped onto our boats from the trees and climbed onto our boats from the water?anything to get to the fruit. We saw a momma monkey with a baby strapped onto her stomach swim through the water completely submerging the baby then climb out and take a piece of pineapple. Then we paddled through a canyon which was absolutely breathtaking. We stopped for lunch at a small beach in an alcove of the island. The monkeys again surrounded us and we had to eat on high guard. After lunch we paddled out to sea then back to the starting point. We had to wait for another group to join us for the last part of the tour which was a pretty frustrating hour. Then we went to the Emerald Pool, a fresh water lagoon next to a cave. We weren?t really in the mood to swim so we waited for the others then explored the cave. Once everyone was finished swimming and exploring the cave, we went back to Ao Nang by truck then back to Railey by boat. After showering, we got dressed up (joking, we only have two sets of clothes so we just wore what we didn?t wear on the trip) and had a nice Italian dinner at our guesthouse. Wine is too expensive here so we split a Pepsi. When we paid our bill, the waitress handed me a single red rose for Valentine?s day. Of course John tried to convince me that he asked her to give it to me (very sly) but I know better. They were giving them out to all of the women.
