Ao Nang Beach
Ao Nang beach is a long stretched white beach and was rough with big waves the day I was there. It's relaxing without many people and the water is clear. You can buy surfing board in the nearby shop. It costs about 250B.

FLOWERS AT OUR HOTEL-Krabi
Hi all,
My wife and I are having difficulty in booking accomodation for Krabi for Dec 30 to Jan. 1st. Seems like a lot of places are booked out. Anyone have any suggestions on places that won't break the bank?
Thanks in advance,
GA
I should add that my wife was hoping for a place in ao nang and also a hotel with a pool (she doesn't like swimming in the sea). But, if anyone has a better idea for just a couple of nights, I'm all ears.

In Krabi, somehow all forms of transportation are referred to either as buses or vans, but don't get surprised when you see the other one or something else like a tuk-tuk or car turning up.
Buses constantly run from Krabi Town to Ao Nang beach costing 20B and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Just sit or wait somewhere along Cha Weng street and you can jump on these buses as they pass by.
Don't get fooled into getting a taxi from the local travel agent for 350B which would end up being a van.
Around Ao Nang there are a number of pancakes sellers. For about 20 bahts you can choose your own filling - mango and honey, banana & chocolate, apple, peanut butter and many more and watch them whip it up in second on there hot plate, then sliced up into bite sized pieces. My favourite was the choc and banana. Perfect for a snack on the way back to the hotel after a hard day....
Railay Beach is one of those beaches you see on countless postcards. It is a lovely beach, safe, sandy and even when the tide goes out you can still swim. If you stay in this area it is one of the must see beaches.
You can get food on the beach from hawkers or you can go to one of the restaurants around (a couple of independant ones but there are also the resort restaurants).
The only trouble with it is that there isn't much shade after around 1pm (no parasols) so go early, get under the trees and aim to leave by around 2pm or you will end up sunburnt.
A holiday in Krabi wouldn't be complete without a few days realxing on the beach. All you need is yourself, some sunblock, a drink and maybe a good book. Then you just need pick your spot and do as little as possible. If you go to Phra Nang Beach, you may be tempted by some of the food the locals sell along the beach, or some of the other wares on offer. On Ton Sai you can lie back and watch the climbers. Many of the beaches in Krabi also have cheap Thai massage, which is the ultimate way to relax. Though if you're not flexible, it can be a little scary.
