Transportation in Krabi

by blacksnail

2 of us are going to Krabi for 2 days an plan to go around krabi for 1 of the days. We plan to go to the place to see fossils, and relax at some beaches if we spot any. We are thinking to rent a car to drive around, but i just wonder if there is other options other than tuk tuk or rent a motorbike. hop in/out perhaps? How much would it cost to rent a car for a day?

We went to Railay Beach and couldn't rent a car to get around because it's only accessible by boat. However, when we went to Aonang, we rented a motorbike (more like a scooter) for US$6.00 for the entire day. Both of us fit on the bike just fine. Easy to use because they are automatic. Lots of Thais are using these motorbikes to get around down in that area. Not sure where you would see fossils but Railay does have a cave that's pretty cool. You can check out my Krabi page for more info. Enjoy your visit!

just 2 days? just go to Ao Nang, take a long tail boat to Railey Beach, and stay there doing nothing. If you have more time, you can go see the fossil, the crystal natual spring, or kayaking in the mangrove bay. (Join with a travel agency, a local driver knows better).

Travel Tips for Krabi

Catch the longtail!

by papajoeb

Didn't spend much time in the town, but what i saw was decent. What i recommend however is to catch the first longtail out to Rayleigh beach. It will blow your mind! My fondest memory of Rayleigh was pushing aside a giant palm leaf to discover the lagoon in the center of a hollowed out mountain!

See my off the beaten path tip for this

LAGOON searching!

by heitim

Somewhere between Railey and Pra Nang don't miss little bit of extreme and start climbing up (you'll find the signs). Viewpoints are perfect ones and lagoon looks nice after 30 min of climbing ;) The movie "Beach" was filmed there (crazy jungle scene)

GREAT FRESH BREAD

by mamasan69 about MAY AND MARKS

This is a very small place to eat but the service is very nice and the food is good. There is probably only about 20-25 seats in the whole place, but its comfortable and relaxed.
This restaurant prides itself on the fresh sourdough bread that is made by the owners, May and Mark. I did try the fresh sourdough bread and it was awsome. The main course that I tried here was the pizza and it to was very good. They make a thin crust pizza and it is quite filling and fairly affordable (85bht for mine).

ELEPHANTS

by jacquitabanana

Through our accommodation we arranged an elephant ride,
make sure that it is with a proper company to be sure the elephants are lokked after.
It was lovely. I fell in love with the elephants. They feel so soft under the toes.
And we got to feed them to and watch them have a bath. Our elephant was lovely and a bit of a sctter brain wandering off and stuff.

5 islands tour

by Sambawalk

The 5 island day tour costs 550 baht by longtail boat, including lunch. Islands visit include Hong Island, Koh Lao Island, Pakbia Island, Rai island.

The visit of Hong Island is only in the back side. If you want to stay on the front side of the island, you need to pay extra 200 baht upon landing directly to the national park booth. See more pics of other islands.
