Basic but good
This hotel is in a good location just 5/6 minute walk to Ao Nang Beach and set significantly away from the main road to be quiet. The main strip, with shops and restaurants hit you as soon as you leave the small road which the hotel is on and continue round the sea front.
The hotel has quite a tacky/dated feel about it in terms of the decor but considering you're only sleeping there it is not too offensive. But if you're looking for a top class spa resort this is not the place for you.
There is building work going on around the pool area but with the gorgeous beaches and islands so close by I don't know why anyone would stay near the pool, which itself is quite small.
Our room was at the back of the hotel over looking the huge khast formation and with a little view over the ocean and Ko Poda. It was clean, quite large with wardrobe and places to put your luggage. It had aircon, tv (with english channels), seperate bath and shower. The maid cleans room every day. Bed was ok but was simply 2 singles pushed together, so occasionally found myself sleeping in the gap...
Breakfast is a varied buffet and there's a chef to whip you up an omlette or fried eggs which was good. Didn't eat the dinner here so cannot comment.
I would recommend Krabi Heritage, it is basic but adequate to meet your needs and worth the money paid for it. Besides you're only sleeping there!

Comfortable and friendly
Three star hotel, nicely situated up a short soi (no traffic noise) off the main road, less than 5 mins stroll from Ao Nang beach. Room simple but comfortable, about average size, hygiene and linens excellent. Bathroom perfectly adequate. If you can, get a 4th floor room at the back of the hotel - the view is fantastic! Breakfast buffet was good although the choice for european food was limited. (fried eggs in SE Asia are usually served cold - don't know why - if it bothers, the chef will cook an omelet or scrambled fresh for you). The reception staff were lovely, couldn't do enough for us. The pool is small, but with the sea so close - who cares!
We had a lovely time there (Jan 07) and would recommend it to anyone

An ok Hotel at ok prices
We stayed here in November 2005. Never been to Ao Nang before and we were surprised at how commercial it was having been to Hua Hin/Cha Am the year before. However once we came terms we enjoyed the stay despite the unseasonal daily heavy rain and lack of sun. This hotel is set at one end of the "strip" and is in very easy reach of all the bars and restaurants in Ao Nang. The hotel is a true 3* with a small pool and sunbathing area which was full by 9am each day (when the sun was actually out!). Staff were friendly but the entertainment/restaurants special nights were poorly attended and we only went out of pity for the group singing to an empty room. The hotel corridoors are all tiled and every room door needs a good push to get it shut. So from 7am every morning and until 2am or later each night the whole hotel echoed with "slam....slam....slam" accompanied with the echo from the tiled floors.....so take ear plugs. Altogther good for the price but theres much better hotels here.

My future husband and i have been looking at staying in the krabi heritage hotel as part of our honeymoon in October. We can't seem to find any reviews about the hotel, as it is newish.
Has anyone seen any reviews or been to let us know what the food is like, quality of the hotel and what kind of area is the hotel in?
