Other transportation option to Phi Phi other than the ferry
by MVDELROSARIO
Here is our predicament:
We are arriving mid-afternoon on November 23 in Krabi and we are thinking of going straight to Phi Phi Island and spend November 24 and head to Railay on November 25 in the afternoon.
Saw that there is only one ferry boat that leaves Krabi and it's at 9ish in the morning, so that leaves us but to leave on the 24th, but we don't want that since we want to make the most of our two days in Phi Phi.
Question:
Is there a private boat we can hire to take us to Phi Phi in the afternoon of the 23rd and then pick us up on the 25th, in the afternoon?
Is it worth it? Any idea how much it would be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I think the only possiblity is to hire a speed boat but it will be a little expensive something around 1000 1500 bht per person one way.
You dont need to return to Krabi by speed boat you can use the ferry that departs from Phi Phi at 15;00 hs.

You might want to check other internet sites or perhaps the Phuket Gazette, because I'm pretty sure that there is more than just one ferry between Krabi-town's Chao Fah Pier and Ko Phi Phi.
For example, one this website, it shows 3 ferrys to Phi Phi daily and also one from Ao Nang/Railey.

Hope this helps.

hi marco,
my group of 6 pax just came back last nite from krabi. besides normal ferry to ko phi phi, just like what fernando said, u can actually hire speed boat to ko phi phi. hope info of help...
we spent 12000 baht rented a single motor speed boat for whole day yesterday, exploring nearby islands like ko chicken, ko bamboo, ko phi phi lei, phi phi don.
along the way we stopped by for snorkeling, cave watching (viking cave, birdnest picking), monkey beach watching monkey feeding by tourists (should not be feeding them as they are becoming quite agressive) - authority should put up warning signboard NO FEEDING OF MONKEY).
we saw a group of the monkeys came down to the tourists after runnout of foods. they began charging fiercely at tourists...

Travel Tips for Krabi
Kayaking In Krabi
by DarkRay
Whether it is cutting through the mangroves in Ao Thalen, or navigating around an island in the open sea, kakaking can be a relaxing way to do it.
Tuned out from the engine noise of a boat, you are also able to feel closer to nature and explore a place at your own leisure pace.
There are various operators in Krabi offering a number of kayaking expeditions to many different parts of Krabi. Prices usually range upwards from 750 baht. Do bring a good dry bag if you are bringing your camera along and of course, the ever indispensible sunscreen!
Longtail Boats
by AndreSTGT
The only way of getting to Raileh and Phra Nang is by boat. Boats can be chartered at the beach in Ao Nang from dawn till dusk, maybe even around the clock. A one way trip costs 50B per person and takes 15-20min. It's a very beautiful trip along the coast and on the way there are some wonderful beaches and dramatic limestone formations to marvel at.
the freshest most authentic!
by j-san about Roadside noodle soup
I noticed all the locals descending on this place as soon as the women opened shop a little before dark. The first time i had it with the beef balls, but they didn't taste that good to me. But the soup was so delicious!! Really delicate and very fresh tasting. The second time i asked for no meatballs. Excellent! I reccommend adding some of the fish sauce on the table and some of the chilly vinegar! Noodle soup: 20 baht with meatballs, 15Baht without.
Celebrating the King's Birthday - 5 Dec
by Aidy_p
I started out wondering why store holders were selling yellow-coloured t-shirts. On 5 Dec, we received a note under our hotel door. It mentioned about the King's birthday and that the people of Thailand will come together to celebrate this memorable day.
The celebrations in the hotel was a bit muted comparing to the waving of flags, and the excited crowd as what I saw on a television broadcast from Bangkok.
The start time of this event was strictly adhered to. If I remember correctly, it's 7.32pm. It was then followed by the singing of patriotic songs.
Emerald Pool
by Cathy&Gary
The Emerald Pool (Sra Morakot), is breathtakingly beautiful and the water is a perfect color.
We were told by a local tour guide there that as it was low season that was the best time as the color is the water is so much nicer, she said high season there are to many people in the pool churning up the sand etc so the colors are not as vibrant.
It’s a nice easy drive to the Emerald Pool from Krabi just take Highway 4 to Khlong Thom district then turn left to Route 4038 to Lam Hap Sub-district.
There are plenty of sign posts and the drive took us about an hour from Ao Nang.
Entry fees are 200baht entry fee per person to the National Park and a 20baht parking fee.
There are toilets and little eating places near the car park then it is about an 800 meter walk to the pool (slightly uphill).
This was a funny walk as on the way there were lots of Burmese on their way back, most of them wanted to shake my hand or touch my arms, they were so friendly and happy, reminds me of our trip to Ranong last year.
The water in the Emerald Pool comes from the very porous rock layers and contains high amounts of Calcium Carbonate so you cannot drink it.
Mineral deposits are all around the edges of the Emerald Pool making it extremely slippery, so be careful getting in and out.
We normally spent a couple of hours at the Emerald pool, there are hardly any people there early in the morning, the water is luke warm, there’s plenty of shade and little seating areas, it is very peaceful and beautiful place.
Lots more photos from the Emerald Pool,
