Just a little wave can make the walk harder
A caved temple
I'm wondering where in this area I should book a hotel. I'm with my wife and senior parents. We are looking to stay about 6 days in the Ao Nang area. I'm looking at Nopparat Beach as a reasonably quiet, relaxed, beach front spot to stay with esy access to boats and taxis to the town (ao Nang)and surrounding areas. Any comments or recommendations of hotels would be greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend to stay in Ao Nang area, it's close to restaurants, boats,..etc
You can take a walk to Napparat beach during the day, at night I think it's too quiet.
if you like beachfront resorts, i think ao nang will have more choices and they are much closer to restaurants and shops. However, there are many long tail boat traffic in ao nang beach during the day to take tourists to railey beach or other places, especially in high season. If I remember right, most of the hotels in Nopparat Beach requires crossing the road to the beach.
The best beach after Pra Nang is Railey West. It doesn't have that kind of white sand like Pra Nang but still beautiful enough... ;-) It's quite a big bay surrounding by steep limestone cliffs. There are some bars and restaurants right on the beach as well as some bungalow resorts. You can rent a kajak and paddle around the cliffs or just go swimming or sun bathing.
Wat Sai Thai is a wat in name only because there are not enough monks in residence to to make it official.
If you ask or are good at sign language one of the monks that are there will show you around.
There isn;t much left to see, an old bell-less tower and a former cremation hall from when it was an active monastery.
The restaurant has a very nice ambience, not too crowded with dim yellow lights. There's a lot of bamboo furniture which adds a touch of rustic charm to the place. Food is unbelieveablely delicious! Best Thai food I've ever tasted! Highly recommended! Garlic Fried Fish and Tom Yum Kong! Yummy!!
The 10 of us rented a speed boat for the day for about $300 Canadian all together. We went to Ko Phi Phi, Bamboo Island and Chicken Island. All were beautiful. Bamboo Island was empty when we went which was really nice. We also went snorkeling with the tiger fish, man they like bread.
Take a look at the pictures. I have tonnes, but only could put a few here.
The beaches around Krabi are something else. Some much beauty. Too bad a lot of people think that way, so it gets crowded. But here and there you can still find a secluded spot for yourself. And hey, people around or not: the beaches still remain breathtaking!
