We stayed here for 4 nights. Good location at one end of shopping/restaurant strip. Large room with good facilities.

Booked and paid on www.sawadee.com

Unique Quality: Pool, breakfast buffet, massages, German satellite but no CNN/BBC.

Ao Nang's Most Unique Accomodation

I had a very good 3 days stay in this hotel. The staff was always friendly and helpful. This hotel definitely has the best location of all the accomodation solutions in Ao Nang. The main reason is because it is situated very conveniently among the intersection of the 2 center or rather streets of activities in Ao Nang. The many long tail boats also often departs and arrive right in front of this beach fronted hotel.

Despite the high season, the hotel was also very accomodating to my requests and agreed to an early check-in of 9am (as my flight arrived at 8.15am) and late check-out time of 2pm (as my fight departed at 5.35pm). The usual check-in and check-out time are 2pm and 12pm respectively. The price stated below is for a superior room (single, twin, or double).

Do note that although it is located at the beach front, most rooms do not face the sea.

The few complaints I have are:

1. The swimming pool at the Coconut Wing of the hotel (which holds their Superior Rooms - which I stayed at) is very old, rather poorly maintained and has lots of leaves in it. But this is not so much of a problem since most people will be swimming in the beaches and there is a much nicer swimming pool across the road at their Betelnut Wing (which holds their Deluxe Rooms).

2. Their staff do not seem to have a good geographical knowledge of the islands and beaches around Ao Nang Bay. They also do not seem to know that besides the Railey West Beach, there is a Railey East Beach as well. But this problem can be easily solved by obtaining the free tourist map from any of the "Tourist Information Centres" (esentailly day tour agents) there.

3. Their jacuzzi is nothing more than a fountain and they charge for using it. Oh yeah, it was very cold too!

Unique Quality: Decorated with natural materials such as coconut husks, logs, and sea shells. *Nice*

More about Phra Nang Inn

Nice surrounds

by leffe3 about Poda Restaurant

The restaurant that is part of Phra Nang Inn (I think it was called Poda) provides a lovely courtyard environment, a little more upmarket than some of the other restaurants in Ao Nang, but with live background music provided amidst the candle-light, its a delightful place to eat.

Good and Reasonable Priced BBQ Seafood

by DarkRay about Tanta's Restaurant

Being a beach town, Ao Nang is littered with numerous restaurants which offers delicious BBQ seafood fare during dinner time. Both Eden (located at the beach front) and Tanta's (near Phra Nang Inn) probably have the best ambience of all the restaurants in Ao Nang and we have patronized both.

While the food and service at Eden was not bad, it was nothing to really shout about either. Eden's service staff someow came across to me as being "trying too hard" (read: nice in a rather fake sort of way) and that made me felt weird when we had our meal there.

Tanta's on the other hard impressed me in almost every aspect. The service staff seemed very genuine in wanting their diners to feel comfortable and were always very polite and helpful. The Thai appetizers and BBQ seafood I had were all very delicious and very reasonable priced. Including tips and non-alcoholic drinks, my friends and I paid 900 baht in total for:

1. Thai Spring Rolls Appetizer
2. Thai Satay Appetizer
3. 4 BBQ Tiger Prawns
4. 1 Large BBQ squid
5. 2 Thick Slices of Barracuda served with Fries Everything I have tried is good.
