Sales @ Ao Nang Beach
by vigi
I was surprised to find ONLY ONE sales person on the beach, not typical Thailand, huh?!!! And this man was pretty friendly too, not that pushy aggressice type, he sat down, let you slowly choose if you want to instead of hard selling things.
View Point

...after 10-15 min of constant uphill climbing, the trail forks. It's a good idea to take a left and do a little side trip to a magnificent view point about 3min downhill. From there you can see Raileh East and West and other beaches from a bird's perspective.
Wonderful Buffet Style Dining
by GracesTrips about Krua Phranang
We had such an enjoyable meal at Raya Dining, we decided to try out the other restaurants at the Rayavadee Resort. It just so happens we were the very first customers to dine at Krua Phranang at the beginning of the season. The restaurant is located along the Phranang Beach with gorgeous views. They have a buffet style spread of food that is just amazing! Several kinds of appetizers to choose from, a salad station with pre-made types of salads or you can have a salad created to your liking. A couple of soups to choose from. I had the cream of asparagus soup that was absolutely delicious. The main course is prepared for you. We had a choice of 4 entrees. I chose the Snow Fish with ginger and spring onion. This must be a pretty large fish because it appeared to be very meaty but flakey at the same time. The dessert station is fantastic. You have to have the Tiramisu in a martini glass! Creamy and light, it's like heaven! The evening's entertainment were five performances of traditional dance and music. Again, just amazing service at this restaurant. Even though this was buffet style dining, we were accompanied by the wait staff to and from our tables as we visited the buffet and never being interrupted once we were at our table. Just a wonderful dining experience! Dinner with a bottle of wine was about 7800 baht or US$236.00, the wine taking up most of the cost.
Pranang Beach in between West & East Railay Beach

Here you'll find rock climbers practicing their bouldering skills, plus you'll get to see some amazing rock formations and outcrops.
Not far from this location was where the James Bond movie Man With The Golden Gun was filmed. Tours are available from a number of locations to take you out to the exact filming area.
Mangrove Swamps
by M0B1US
As part of the James Bond Discovery Tour (See General Tips) we were able to venture close up to these dense forests of intertidal plants that flourish on the brackish coastal water of the bay during our canoeing expedition through the narrow tidal waterways around the edge.
Perhaps the most striking feature is how the plants roots are visible above the waterline as they descend into the shallow water below. It is by looking at these that you can guage the amount of the rise and fall of the tide.
Mangrove Swamps are valuable ecological zones that serve to protect coastal areas from erosion as well as providing an excellent habitat for marine creatures.
