"Filling Tea Bags"
Temples are not only places of worship and meditation, they are hives of activity. The monks grow herbs and plants at temples, where they can. From these plants and herbs, they make medicines for people to buy. They also make carvings out of holy wood, they make amulets and Jatukam (another amulet, see my Phuket Local Customs tips for details).

Here is one version of a Jatukam being made. Usually they're made of ceramic or metal, but here are some wooden ones being made.
Firstly, a disc is cut.
Next, the pattern is pressed into the wooden disc
Sanding the amulets to smooth them
Varnish
And dry.
